Jazzy, we really need more info than what you have given...Washington DC? Washington state? Where in Washington? Also maybe you should sponsor us to be able to get immediate PMs and E-mails before 50 posts. I will await your reply and delete this post after I give you sufficient time to decide, thanks!

Jazzy, the best thing that I can say for you is to do some research. Going through a broker is hard because they take a lot of the freight that the big companies don't want or can not get due to what ever reason.
Keep in mind that the broker will see the money before you do and most of the time the broker fee's are high considering a lot of the freight is obtained by companies calling them, not the other way around.
Your best bet would be to find a company that will work with you on getting loads for yourself. What part of Washington State are you in? What kind of Trailers do you have, refrigerated, Dry van or flat bed? What size trailer are they? All of these would affect what you can haul or not haul and make a difference in whom somebody might recommend to you.
Update and let us know what you are wanting to haul as well. I think that is what Wise one was getting at. Correct me if I am wrong there Wise one.

i have five trucks and Trailers all dry 53'

it been really slow from washinton and have all of my trucks siting here in washington. i'm out of Kent, WA. cant even go to california empty deisal is getin high n high every day. i did setup with few companies( CH Robinson, Bear, Schieder, Knights, Interstate, Pioneer, Great America...) but none of them have loads out of washington everyones asking for trucks out of california.
some help would be appreciated!!!!
thanks. -
no hazmat that may be part of your problem.
If you can not do hazmat then your trucks are less valuable to some companies.
I got hazmat on my license just for that if there are no other loads are avalible then I will haul hazmat it is better than sitting until they find a non hazmat load.
But just my oppinion
It may not be worth a small company to haul hazmat due to the potential losses that could happen given there are any problems.
