Used to make pretty good money there,
but like most things--shot to hell.
Used to be alot of fun working there, tons of miles, in a NICE fast truck.
Ahhhh, the good ol dayz !!! -
whats it like drivin a smooth bore versus one with baffles and how do u guys scale them
-
It will completly change the way you drive.... lol. Liquids in the tank do the Exact oppisite of what you do..... You go forward, it rushes backwards, you turn right and it wants to go left, etc. But you get used to it. My first few weeks were really ruff. But now i barely even notice the surge.
As for scaleing the loads.... Not a whole lot you can do. Most of the places have scales on site, so you never wanna show up light on fuel, becuase they WILL load you with as much product as they can and keep you legal. We also have quite a few places that we go to where the trailers are preloaded (drop and hook) and i just go onto those places at about a half tank of fuel. But thete are plenty of times when i have picked up a tank at a barn loaded with 51,000lbs of milk on it, all that you can do at that point is to make sure your logs look pretty becuase the nice DOT officer may request to see them as he is filling out the overweight citation at the scale house lol. IRT pays all over weight fines. -
