I sure agree with you on that one Rug. I am so very grateful that I trained with someone who ran all 48 states! There are some lessons that a newbie cannot learn on a dedicated account, running the same lanes every day.

I was a flat land trucker for 8 years of driving. Didn't leave Florida. I did do Monteagle in TN a couple times in a 26ft Penske truck when I was moving back to Florida. I called a friend and asked how to handle it. He said, "pick a gear and stay in it!"

I did lots of mountains with my mentor. Monteaglle is a speed bump! Not like the Rockies.

They still train on dedicated accounts. What I said was they aren't going to let L/O's run dedicated anymore.

Only thing I didn't get training in was the NE. I may go there in the future.

BTW a friend out of Orlando had his DM tell him today there is no more "comfort zones."

    What a crock!

Edward you are right about my mentor not making sure I knew how to throw iron. We went over it once and that was it. I should of spoke up, but I didn't I just figured if the road was that bad I would stop :biggrin_2556: . Then came the time I wanted to actually try it and I had a hell of a time as listed in the other post.

We are not going to agree on the dedicated training system. So lets just both lay it rest. I am not hear to argue with you or anyone else. Be safe out here driver.

This is the first I've heard of no more L/Os on dedicated accounts. Guess I'll have to check into that one. I'll be at my terminal tomorrow, maybe I'll remember.

Doesn't sound right to me, though.

    Let us know.

My highway hero was talking to JB a few years ago about a lease purchase. When he asked about dedicated they told him "we don't run L/P drivers on dedicated." (That was where the better money was.) He told her, "end of conversation!"

Gonna talk to my DM tommorrow.

Is there any way you can do a certain load or get on that same load?

There's a place right in my hometown that goes from Peshtigo over to Detroit (redford, actually)

God, if I could just do that load over and over again, I'd be in heaven. I'd just love to get into something that's routine.

Had that load Thursday morning. Running a Sears load from Romeoville to Wauwatosa and Appleton, then pick up another peshtigo-redford load tuesday morning.

Okay, JB Hunt has been addressed. This does not speak to Swift at all.

Word I have is they tried that a number of years ago and lost a series of good accounts due to the Company Drivers' inability or ineptitude at getting loads done correctly and on time. Therefore, there are currently no plans to eliminate all L/Os and O/Os from all dedicated accounts.

Another very good reason to eliminate JB Hunt from any consideration whatsoever as a future employer for me.
