That's easy, take meds. I pay $10 a month at WM for generic meds.
Lilbit, bikegoon and outerspacehillbilly Thank this. -
Why don't they have the same financing for trucks as they do for school?
Since there are so many used trucks in my area on craigslist for 5000 and truck driving school is 7,500
Hmmmmmmm I wonder why?
OH i know why......... because the trucking companies wouldn't make any money from me, if I got it on my own.
I can argue this all day, but it doesn't get me in a Peterbilt 587 any faster. -
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the MAXIMUM BP that will pass a CDL Physical for a 2 year card is 140/90. If it is 1 point higher then guess what? You get a 3 month card.
Really? I got news for you , you are WRONG. I didn't go to school to get mine, I went to the BMV got the manual and studied my butt off for about a month and then went and took the written test for the permit. Then I practiced on a friends T/T and went and took the driving test and passed with no problem. Then I went out and found someone that would hire me and I rode/drove with an experienced driver till I was comfortable and then I went to work.
I guess I missed the original question from the OP. It seemed it was all the whining about not being hired by CRE that covered up the real question. If you want to know how to get your cdl without paying 7 grand or whatever for it then get off your butt go to the license branch and get the cdl study manual, study your butt off. Then once you've got your permit find someone to let you practice or teach you enough to pass your driving test and then find someone that will hire you.
Don't get me wrong it won't be easy but it can be done. i know cause I did it. -
Sure is easy, and while the meds are working, you also make certain changes to your diet, and bingo! Problem under control! To quote the commercials, 'So easy a caveman could do it!'

Ok. Try this for an answer. Got to your states MVD and find out what it takes to get your CDL. Written test, Skills test, DOT med card. Maybe $100 to $125 depending on your state.
Written test study your state CDL manual.
Skills test Need a truck that can pass state inspection. cost to rent a truck???
Medical card? until you get your BP under control not going to happen.
Just say you got your CDL without going to school. Whos going to hire you? You may get lucky and find a local p&d that may pick you up and give you a chance.
No big otr company is going to turn over that much money to someone who has no training.
I just graduated school, and am getting ready to go out with a trainer the end of the month. It was the best choice I've made. Yes Im paying 8k to do it, but I'm more able to get a job and make a living. -
Step 1: Find a doctor that will prescribe medication that will get your blood pressure near the 120/80 range. Believe it or not, blood pressure is usually easily moderated with medicine.
Step 2: Accept the fact that insurance companies WILL NOT allow trucking companies to hire inexperienced drivers without Professional Certified Verifiable Training.
Step 3: Look into yourlocal Vocational Schools and Community Colleges for training. They are often half the cost and twice the training of a Private CDL Training Company. Mine for example is thru a Vocational School that is part of the Stateof Florida Public School System. 320 Hour course for $2700.
Step 4: Go online and fill out a Fafsa application. Vocational Schools and Community Colleges use the Fafsa application as a Qualifier for Federal and State grants. I qualified and my $2700 tuition was paid 100% with State Funds.
Step 5: You can also try to qualify for the WIA federal program. It's a much more elongated process but the end result may be funding for your training.wicked Thanks this. -
You are an exception to the rule these days! You also put in the work that needed to be done. You hunted down the right people.
It can be done, but most people won't put in the work to do it that way, since finding a company that will take someone with no experience AND no school takes a LOT of work. Getting shippers or brokers to touch someone with no experience is pretty darn hard too. How many people are willing to put in that kind of work? That's the basic reasoning behind my saying that there isn't a way to do it without the school.
This person has already gone through part of the training, got denied employment because of his blood pressure, and now wants to try and do it the hard way? The first thing he needs to do is get the blood pressure under control.xlsdraw Thanks this. -
I agree, it wasn't easy and I got told NO a lot before I found one to say yes.
Agreed, he needs to get his BP under control PRIORITY #1. Hey if he is willing to do it the hard way more power to him. I just get tired of hearing people say you can't do it that way when I know for a fact you can. I'll never say it was easy because it wasn't and that was also 11 years ago and it would be even harder today, but, with a LOT of hard work and drive it can be done. -
Can that 5k truck pass a DOT insection? Over 500Kmi? May cost you more than 10K to get it road ready.
You got it wrong on companys making money off you if your company driver or o/o.
Talk to the O/Os.
you want to be the CEO of Chase bank right out of High school. Pay your dues. learn the system.bikegoon Thanks this.
