They charge to park at many truck stops, and most of the rest areas say "No Overnight Parking.' So, I drive at night and park all day!! ha ha
B4 the 'self-righteous' come after me, I see why the need to keep Rest Area parking open for those who need to use the facilities, but states like TX have many Rest Areas with lots of parking for their 'Visitors.!!' -
Haha.. yep, I see them 9 to 5 ers trying find a place to sleep. It's a pain! I run it at night now too so there's always a place to park.

deliver in the early as possible AM, pick up around 12. Go to sleep at about 1 or 2 and find plenty of places. Sleep till around 1 am and then drive to your next drop and start the cycle all over again

Delivering in the early morning is fine, if the receiver sets up their deliveries like that. Only problem is, that isn't the case for many of them. I deliver to many walmarts, and the majority of my deliveries are around 8:00pm, which means I arrive to unload, then seek out the nearest truck stop to go to sleep.
While I agree that there are not enough parking places for trucks, much of this problem could be alleviated if some of the lazy truckers out there would take the time to park in an actual spot, rather than up against the curb of a truck stop parking lot, making it impossible to get into open parking places.
It makes me wonder just how untrained, or how lazy some of the drivers out here are also when you sit and watch a driver circle a parking lot 2-3 times, then leave, rather than take the time to back in the spots that are available. For some of these guys/gals, if they have to actually get their truck in between two other trucks, they just leave. Seems like some of these people need to spend some of their extra time during the day practicing/developing their backing skills. -

This might be not very interesting for you, but it is the same in Germany.
Most truck stops are overfilled and places to park are to small for this many trucks on the reaod all day (or night) -
Man, this one of the most aggravating things, especially for new drivers. I was one of the best in my class in backing and nothing makes me more nervous than squeezing between two Petes' with an old codger sitting in one with a mic in his hand just waiting to yell at you. I really feel sorry for the people who struggle with it because you have to do it, simply because there are some nights when you will be glad to see that tight little spot.(am i getting off the subject) Anyway, with all the other crap we deal with it's sad our government can't give us a safe place to park. How much can it cost to throw a frickin' slab of asphalt on the side of the interstate. Sheesh

I agree, I got to where I HATED trying to find a place to park and would, sometimes, HAVE to park off an off-ramp only to be rudely awakened with a ticket awaiting me and a smile on a trooper's face. I remember once I told one trooper I was so tired I MIGHT get into an accident and he didn't care, told me to beat it and pay the ticker too, LOL. Trucker parking is a real mess and is going to worsen fast. Once they let the Mexicans over the borders, there will be many more deaths. Sad.
