I didn't know central had walmart dedicated now, I like what I'm doing easist gig in trucking. Of course it's a great job to have if you want to get really good at backing, on a normal day I back up to 9 times a day, and most of the stores are setup for blindside backs, at night with little to no light.

I am gonna start my training this friday here in northern california. Any of you guys ever been to Fontana? Been at the place where to get the trucks? What kind of trucks are they giving out these days? Leting new drivers drive? Is the training really that hard? Any thing I should read about or look up before the training starts? Any feed back will be wonderful. Thanks.

Hi big Cali I start this Friday too. Are you starting in Modesto? From what I hear they have newer int prostars. & Volvo 670's. The training is pretty straight forward. Just follow directions. The trainers in Modesto are real good. Go to DMV and get a cdl a handbook and start reading.

Between the 5 weeks you are with a trainer and you get your own truck, is it really only 5 weeks? Or longer? And when you get your own truck are you able to go home then? Or do you start your first run then? It would be nice to spend a few days or a day at home before i started but just wondering.

School, 2 weeks. Orientation 2 days, training 4/5 weeks, upgrade 1 - 2 days, then typically you get a load/loads in the direction of your house, and it seems like forever

    BigCaliTrucker Thanks this.

Big rig, they at least had it, but not like what you do, it is run from the growers to the dc's. Which dc do you pull out of. Lextec's kin pulls out of one of them in NC, but he works for wal-mart

When I drove for central, they always told me that the appointment time does not go by the time you arrive at the gate, but by the time you check in with your paperwork at the office, I was late a couple of times, and charged for late loads, because of a really long line and slow walmart employees.
