USA Truck -DON'T GO THERE

Even if your apu wasn't working, couldn't you just idle the truck? Even if it had an automatic shut off, there are ways around it in most trucks. Even if you couldn't find a way around the auto shut off, you could have run it enough to heat the cab, then start it again as needed. Yea, it would've been hard to get sleep, but your not gonna sleep anyways if you're freezing.
I just think that someone with 23 years experience would be a little more innovative.

 

Pops its all B.S.; all of it. Case in point, Im taking a 34 hr at our terminal in West Memphis, just today a driver claimed he was with the company 6 years stated that our company had been sold to Swift and that there are no dedicated accounts at USA. Furthermore, there had been no dedicated accounts for a couple of years. At this point (2) drivers advised him that in fact there are dedicated runs and they both were assigned to them, currently under loads. Just drivers talking, always trying to over inflate just to sound knowledgeable.

As for these other drivers (on this thread) and their horriffic accounts of maltreatment. What kind of intellegence does it take to leave the truck if its too cold to stay in it? My icon failed in Ticonderoga NY in January, no nearby hotel, I simply went into the service station and stayed warm until I had the hours to get the truck repaired. No frost bite here. (and I suspect no frost bite there as well; but it makes a good read)

As for me being green, you could say that I am to this industry. However I am not green to common sense. Nor am I green to the interpretation of a story that is stretched longer than I am tall, and I am 6'7". If you didn't like the company or had a bad experience, it happens, everyday, all over America. But to try and convince us that all these terrible things happened, really?

You're a driver with 23 years of experience and you took a job with a not-so-reputable student company, yet you have the nerve to tell others who enjoy working for USA that they are incredibly stupid. You need to take a long, hard look in the mirror, pal.

I was feeling for you until you started your group name calling. Any intelligent man deals with people as individuals and not groups. You come from a state of pot smoking tree huggers. It also sounds by your post that you have a hard time getting along with people.

I wonder why a man with 23 years experience doesn't know the difference between a good company and a bad company? And would rather suffer frostbite than seeking your own shelter? If it was that bad, I would get my own motel room or sleep in the truck stop. The APU down for a month? You don't know how to pull into a shop? I also wonder why a man with 23 years experience doesn't know about his mileage pay? That's very strange.

My take, by looking at the DAC entries is you were desperate for a job because of your previous employment. USA called and you jumped right on it.

He would have had to get out of the bunk and manually hold the throttle for awhile to warm the cab up! This would have taken a little effort on his part! LAZY!

 

USA starts students # .28/mi with raises every 3 months until a year, where the pay is .34/mi, pretty standard. Students do end up paying for school, but they no longer require escrow accts.
Most of these posts aren't defending USA, they just find it hard to believe that someone with as much experience as you would put himself in a situation like that.

 

I am not defending USA or anyone else. Even though I drive for USA I am not "blind" or not subject to the variety of craziness that happens here. That being said, to have 23 yrs (or someone offered 2-3) experience and state such folly has to to be done in jest. There is no other explanation, unless your starving for attention and this is your vehicle.

My experience at USA has lead me to a couple of facts, which oddly enough are not unique to the trucking industry, its the same in every industry.

1) Un-happy employees or ex employees shift the blame of the situation from themselves and onto the employer, in 99 outta 100 cases.

2) The more outlandish the story, the higher the probability that is bullshi* !

Sorry, I think at least we all can agree on that. I'm not pointing to anyone in particular or trying to attack anyone. Just dont pee on us and try to convince us its raining, thats all.

oh yeah.... just because the average person has a typo here or there does not make their sense of fact and fiction less accute.
