I don't mind being called a Swift Driver at all. I am confident in my own abilities to drive the truck safely. I am also confident in the abilities of many thousands of other Swift Drivers. When you have 16,000 plus drivers on the road for Swift, you are bound to find that there are more that are not as careful as the majority. I am sure that our percentage of incidents per driver miles is pretty much the same as a company with maybe 500 drivers.

Planners cant see the hours, I mean if they go into your truck screen and look they can, but all they see is PTA and hours available on the planning screen. As for that load scenario you describe, if you cant do it, decline.

I understand New England gets old, but if you get stuck up there get with your DM. There is almost always a way to get you out of there. And lets be honest, as long as the wheels are turning you make money, it really shouldnt matter where you go. Yeah I know New England sucks, I did my time there, even lived in the only good part of it for 8 years.

Well he probably is back but I don't think dstar is one of his names. dstar has been around for a while. He's seems to be a disgruntled union guy. He just LOVESSSSSSSSSSSSS non union companies. :biggrin_25512::biggrin_25520::biggrin_25526:

Could you give us a little info on why preplans get voided? I know there must be many reasons, but if you could give us, say, a hundred or so, that would be nice.:biggrin_2559:

Im new so excuse me if I ask something stupid :biggrin_25525:

Customer calls and gives you info on p/u and delivery of a load. When you call the shipper to confirm the pick up / delivery times do you also call the delivery location to confirm the drop time / window?

    Thanks for you time

Do you mean when you are planned on a load and it gets removed, or when you are dispatched and it gets voided?

If you are dispatched and the load gets voided, there are usually just a couple of reasons it could have happened: customer cancelled the load, or double-booked. The customer may cancel a load for any number of reasons, not enough product, sale cancelled, could be anything. They do not always tell us why the load cancelled.

If a preplan gets removed, it could be because of the reasons above, or it could be because the planner is trying to get the load planned, and plans it on 3 or 4 trucks. When one driver accepts the preplan, it is removed from the others.

We dont call and confirm pu and delivery on a load if the customer calls and gives us that info. A lot of it is done electronically these days, and the times are there.

If we need to call the customer to schedule a delivery, and we do schedule it, we do not call again to confirm it. If that time is given to us by the customer, sometimes we confirm it, it depends on if we have been in there a few times before and been given a bad appt time.

If you are on an air freight load, or a load for an LTL carrier (like Conway), the appointment times for delivery are usually entered by customer service based on miles/50mph, rounded up. So if there is a 1575 mile run, scheduled to pick up at 0600 by a team, we will schedule it to deliver 32 hours later, at 1400, then confirm with the customer that the time is acceptable. Of course we will not commit to anything earlier than that if the customer is not good with the time, most times the customer is ok with it.
