Got out in the tractor and after 10 minutes of "this is how you shift" at the Columbus terminal lot, it was "okay, head on out into the city." Whaaaa..aAA..TT?! So, drove through downtown Columbus and then instructor says "take this exit." Me: Uh, this exit goes out onto the highway." Instructor: Yep, that's where we are going." Me (again): whaaaa--AAA..TT?! :biggrin_25521: Haha. Interesting day, today.

In order to learn how to drive, you have to drive. And that usually involves roads and highways:biggrin_25526::biggrin_2559:

Being a bit nervous can be a good thing- it keeps you careful. I'd be more worried about someone who has no fear or trepidation at all their first few times in the drivers seat.

Shucks, I still get scared sometimes.:biggrin_2551:

JustSonny, Injun and Buckeye 'bedder Thank this.

IP: I thought the "pickle suit" was the Army flight suit. I used to iron them all the time when I was married to a soldier. He was a Flight Engineer and Crew Chief on $#%!-Hooks.

Love it...get in the truck and ....wwhhhhaaaaattt!?? Expected to ddrrriiiiiiiiiivvee it?? Glad you got a mentor so quickly.

If it was olive drab, it qualified as a "pickle suit." Nothin' like a bunch of folks standing around, lookin' like a bunch of dill pickles!

I have been getting more driving time during road training. When we started Tuesday, my downshifting was absolutely atrocious! Scrunnnnchh! Riiip! Gnasssshh! Grroooooaaannnn.......Repeat. As of today, it's not consistent, but neither is it terrible. My road trainer here in C-bus is terrific! The patience of Jobe. No screaming at you when you are already a little on the.......stressed side. I've got work to do, but there may be hope for me yet. :biggrin_25523:
