Roehl Orientation Date 03/07

The 6 of us here in Ellenwood have a job today... lol We got ID cards and gate entry cards.
Day 4 / 5 More backing/driving /shifting, learning to do a trip plan. We slid and set the tandems several times and then did the lap/pal (disconnect/connect) once each.
We had one guy that was having a problem getting his shifting/timing back after a month layoff from school so they put him with another trainer for 3 hours to see if they could help him. It worked, he was back in the truck with us today (3 to a truck) and was driving like someone else had took over his body driving in his place..
No homework tonight, I've been catching up with family and friends on the phone and even some time on the internet.
We started on monday and will work thru monday have tuesday off and be with our trainer on Wednesday (hopefully).
I'm looking foward to meeting some of you out on the road.

 

Day 6 was driving around Atlanta, took a lap around Atlanta Motor Speedway, on the outside, good times.
Day 7 lots and lots of paperwork, lol 3 pages, I guess this part of training was to prepare us for waiting for a preplan, waiting at a shipper/receiver, or doing a 34. We sit on out butts for hours doing nothing and reading our Company handbook. Allot of good info in chapter 5.
We did get out for some backing around 3pm. You can never get enough backing experience.
Were now on our 34 hr. reset and should go out on Wednesday. Three of us are still waiting on a trainer, hopefully they will come through soon.

 

Left with Tom the trainer on Thursday the 17th thru Thursday the 24th. Tested out on friday and was issued a 2007 freightliner columbia with only 506,000 miles, better than I thought I would get. On 34 - 48 hr reset till monday morning when I hit the road solo, if there's anything leaving atlanta that is.
Several truckers sitting for 1 or 2 days waiting on thursday and friday..

I saw many Roehl trucks on the road during my 8 days out, so freight is moving.
