Bummer, just got a call from school (trans tech) and they have pushed my start date back another two days. So now I'm scheduled to start on 03/23/11. Well this is out of my control so no reason to get upset just have to make the adjustment and deal with it. But on the other hand I really really want to get started!

Well, seawheeler, if everything is still on schedule, you should be starting your training today. I read your original post, as well as the rest of this thread and you sound like an interesting guy. Based on your past experiences, you should do well at just about anything you try. I just wanted to wish you luck on this newest chapter in your life!
seawheeler Thanks this. -
i can feel your frustration about the start date getting changed around...mine got pushed back 3 weeks.....was supposed to start mine 3/14 but got it pushed back till 4/04....all set and ready to go and get a call from the school administrator 4 days before saying 'we had a little fire at our shops/driving range and 3 of our 4 trucks got burned up'...well, that must have been more than a 'little' fire lol.....funny they kept it hushed and out of the news though....never saw anything about it or even anywhere online....oh well....2 more weeks to wait....and pushes my finish date to within 4 days of my current job ending so that took away my 3 week cushion i had of finding something before the last day on my current job......good luck to you

Well here we go again, got a call yesterday afternoon from the school and guess what, pushing the start date back to 03/28/11. So now I will start exactly one month later than originally planned. That's OK gave me a chance to tune up the mower, clean up the lawn, cut a few bushes and know a few things off the honey do list. I don't know if they are going to be ready for me, I have so much built up energy for this it could be a problem! We'll see.

Thanks ODX. Ya buddy, changing my status from wannabe to student! Start tomorrow at 07:45 rain or shine. Can't wait, this has taken about two and a half months from the time I committed to this new career to starting school. First I had to check out schools in my area; really only two CVCC and Trans Tech. Then had to find a way to pay for it, WIA. Then jump through all the hoops for the government money. And finally wait on an opening at the school just to have it postponed twice.
Not one to sit around I bought a '48 jeepster and have been restoring it. Got it back from the paint shop last week and hope to have the engine back in by the end of this week. I hope I have time to work on it after school each night, I guess it depends on the amount of home work I get. One thing that I don't like about the school is their classes are from 08:00 - 17:00 M-f. What am I to do all morning before class starts? LOL I'm a rise at 05:00 kind of guy no matter what time I go to bed. So I guess this is when I'll do my home work.
I'll try to keep my progress updated here and maybe post a few questions as the arise. -
thats funny I restored a 1979 Fiat Spyder while I was in CDL school in 2008. Took me 5 months and $4000 to restore a car we picked up for $600

This is the Jeepster on the way to the paint shop. What you can't see in this photo is the other side that is mostly primer. LOL not the other side looks as nice as this side.
Hope to sell it before I jump in the truck.
