This is not for you new-B's, you don't know what a good trucking company is just yet. For the rest of you; here is my experiance thus far: four day orientation, mind numbing as they have been for the last 19 years. Put on a BUS from Dayton, OH going to Elkton, MD to pick up a ride at the International dealer, a formerly broken ride. After a miserable overnight bus ride I find the truck to be FILTHY. I was paid for the bus ride, so the company expects me to log the time on line 4; this means I can't even move the truck to get cleaning supplies, on the first night. That was last Friday; on Satuday morning I recieved my first load; 360 miles, over the G.W. into Mass. does not deliver until 1500 Monday, at a grocery warehouse. An entire weekend shot for 360 miles, into New England, in a trashed truck, delivering to a grocery warehouse, certianly not my kind of freight; good luck if you choose, this going down hill in a hurry company, to work for. Oh ya, just remembered; I have not seen a dime since showing up for there orientation. Not the reimbersement for train and bus travel to get to orientation, not a dime or sign on money, all I have done is shell out cash since leaving for their orientation. Most companies will at least reimberse for the travel expenses durring orientation, or as soon as it is completed. I got the run around on the subject, first being told that I would get reimburst at orientation, then the check would be sent to my house, then it would be overnighted to orientation, what ever the case, whether money, or maintenance; with this company don't believe it til' you see it.:biggrin_25513:

Why would you a driver w/ 16 years experience chose this company?

I only have one real experience with USA Truck... in 1999, I was driving for Matlack and fueling at the Kangaroo in Hittiesburg, MS, next to a USA guy and we got to talking. He asked about my company, but found that he wasn't interested in all the HAZMAT, gas mask, rubber clothing, etc... and I couldn't blame him.

He asked about home time - I'm from South Texas, and I told him I'm home every 10-14 days. He said that he'd been out 8 weeks this time, had requested home time after THREE weeks... and didn't get it...and missed a whole bunch of stuff with his family because of it.

Bear in mind, that was 12 years ago, but it has always stuck in my head.

Why would a guy with 18 years allow himself to be treated that way... ride a bus for days... ride a train and a bus? On second thought, I know I wouldn't do it... so I don't have a lot of sympathy.

Thats why I left that sorry company way back in '92. They won't ever change as long as they can still find suckers, err, steering wheel holders to fill those empty seats.

I'm thinking, for the most part, we could say that about any company (insert major company here)..

I agree flatbed, this is the 2nd guy with buttloads of experience to get on here and gripe about USA within a couple of days. Newbs don't know what a good trucking company is yet? This dude has 18 years of experience, and he apparently still doesn't know what a good company is. After 18 years, if you haven't found a company that you are happy with and want to stay with, maybe the problem is you and not all the companies you've bounced around to for all of those years.

    And then...what happened?

Was that one load the only one you did?

So you're still working for them and haven't gotten your first check yet, or what? I'm not being critical or anything, just trying to understand.

I know, why don't you all stop driving for these bottom feeders. All they do is treat people like garbage.
