Don't post or reply too often but have gained some valuable info here. I am interested in a few PDI parts for my Cat 550. The guy I spoke with suggested reprogramming ecm, different turbo and exhaust manifold. Has anyone done anything like this, am I asking for trouble? My truck has 690k on it and is a 2000 model W900. Thanks for any info.

Member in this community named Mr. Haney. He is a PDI dealer, but more important, he is the resident Cat God here. He knows tremendous amounts about anything Cat. He will see your thread and guide you through this.
Do a search of the forum. Much has been posted on this and you will find LOTS of info.
    Then it takes $.

    Mr. Haney Thanks this.

Mr. Haney is definitely the guy to talk too. He has lots of options depending on how much you want to spend(mild to wild) . Not to mention, after the sale he still answers the phone to help you out. I have bought from him and will do so in the future

    Mr. Haney Thanks this.

The biggest bang for your dollars you spend will be programming the ECM. The manifold and turbo can be done at a later date if you stay with a stage 1 tune . The horsepower level of a stage 1 tune isn't high enough to hurt the engine if everything is in good working order.

The Stage 2 tune is very strong for these engines and does require you to upgrade the turbo at the same time you program the ECM.

You could also do a 7CZ file and get great results with the power and fuel mileage.

The PDI manifold does flow better than a stock CAT manifold.

The turbo is built using a newer design Extended Tip Technology compressor wheel for fast response, along with moving more CFM of air than a stock turbo. The turbo is more effiecent than the stock turbo at low engine RPM and if the truck is driven to take advantage of this you will see a fuel mileage increase.
