m11 cummings idle shutdown

do you want to disable idle shutdown? if it is Volvo, you need VCADs pro ore PTT. becouse when I did it with Insite software, VECU kept shutting down engine

 

I went to Cummins and has them disable it.

 

some Volvo '98 verion VECUs may shut engine down with J1939 CAN, so I'm not sure

 

That is controlled by the ECM, so cummins or someone with the program needs to hook up to your ECM to change the setting, Cummins offered to do mine for free if I took the truck to them.

 

The ECM may be password protected, and so they couldn't make the changes, but they should have told you that. If it is not password protected, take it back!!! You paid for the changes and they missed it or did something wrong!

 

Password protection is not a problem for good technician

 

Does this truck have an ICON system on it? If so that may be also shutting you down. If not have them go in and disable each parameter under idle shutdown. Ambient temp, PTO, and set time before shutdown up to 60 minutes. Then go in and disable the header parameter. Make sure they are sending this to the ECM also, you can change them in insite, but if its not sent to the ecm it wont save.

 

what ICON system on so old truck? it is not ISM11 it is Celect M11, ore Celect plus.

There were Road Relays used, but.. seems to me everething is not so complex as you think. Just one parameter easy to change with Insite. Yeah, Volvo VECU may shut engine down too, but I do not think they programmed it this way, anyway easy to change with VCADs Pro (VTT/PTT)
