Well, my first 2 weeks running solo are over and I am at home. I ran almost 5,500 miles in just over 2 weeks out. I managed my time carefully, and did not need to take a 34hr reset. So far, the planners have kept me hopping which is exactly what I want.
The volvo has worked flawlessly so far, and I am quite pleased with it overall. The thing I like most is that the interior is so much quieter than the freightliners that I had become accustomed to.
I was planning to go back to work on Thursday morning. Unfortunately, the overnight low tomorrow night is supposed to drop into the single digits above zero. It looks like I get to spend my last night of hometime sleeping in the truck! I would rather do that than take the chance on waiting for xx hours in the morning for a jumpstart.

    tazaaa and Hamshoe Thank this.

Thank you LadyTrucker. Enjoy your time with your mentor. If you get a decent one, it can be a very enjoyable experience. Team driving can get a little tiring though, particularly if you are running hard.
You know, the gorge really wasn't that bad. There are some crazy truckers on that stretch of road. One thing I am not willing to do is let my load push me down the mountain. I would rather be safe than sorry!

You can go slow many many times going down a mountain. You will only go too fast one time.

Well guys--i made it through my 2 weeks. Also was lucky enough to have a good mentor that had been with the company 4 years. It went by pretty fast--at home for a couple days--go back monday to pick up my truck--took all the tests/required classes--so im good to go. It was a fast 2 weeks--he was a good guy and very professional. It seems they been handing out prostars so i guess i find out monday what i get. LOL

You guys stay safe out there :)

Congrats LadyTrucker! With any luck, you will get a newer truck with no "issues". I will be insanely jealous if you get a Prostar - I really like those rigs!
Enjoy your solo tour, and may you have safe travels!
