I'm looking for a 2000w inverter for my husband. I was wondering what the best brands are so I can order him one.

I've had good luck with the Powerdrive brand. Check out Amazon they have some real good deals on there usually.
Whatever you do don't buy a Cobra they are very dirty and cause tons of RF interference. -
and make sure it's a pure sine inverter it will be worth it in the long run also there will not be any interferance and things like a microwave in the truck will run better also it's the way the eletricty is converted.

I saw a good rating on power bright? anyone know anything about it?
-
They look a little expensive to comparable models.

I liked the digital display of wattage being used and they are supposed to run silent and not get hot.
It is supposed to be delivered tomorrow so i should have my microwave in the truck this weekend. -
I'm the production manager of an APU company and I had to research hundreds of inverters to find one that we would sell with our unit. We used to use Tripplite inverters and had bad experiences. We switched to the Xantrex Freedom HF1800 and I will never buy another brand. I've installed roughly 20 into trucks and we've never had one go bad. It's 1800 watts, so should be just as good as 2000.
Fyi, there's 2 types of inverters: pure sine wave and modified sine wave. Pure sine is roughly double the cost, but causes much less interference if you're running a DVD player or TV. Basically the reason for this interference has to do with the internal workings of the inverter. Pure sine just puts out a "smoother" flow of power.
Don't buy one that's under $300! Just trust me on this! Those inverters cause massive interference and can wreak havoc on your batteries!
My opinion - Xantrex Freedom HF1800. I think it costs roughly $450. -
I AM SUCH A NEWB !
I know an inverter is to power your "comfort appliances/gadgets", ie: fridge, tv, laptop, microwave etc. Some company trucks have APU's of various types already installed but the one I really wanna go to does not. However, they will allow you to install up to a 750W inverter. So...here's what I need to know (again, I'm such a newb so excuse my seeming ignorance).
How much will a good 750W inverter set me back (the inverter and installation)?
How many appliances can you run at the same time?
Does it drain the battery?
Exactly what appliances can I run on a 750W? fridge, micro, laptop, tv?
How the heck do I find someone to install it? Wanna make sure it's done right. -
OK, now that you've all had a good chuckle, let me tell you my dilemma and I'm hoping somebody with experience in trucking and making it comfy can help me. As I mentioned, the trucking company will only allow a 750W inverter. So that's what I'll be working with.
Now. On the road, I would like to be able to run a tv, laptop, charge my phone, (and dare I dream) if at all possible, somehow have a microwave (just enough to heat soup, reheat cofee) and a fridge (just enough fridge to keep a pack of lunchmeat, a couple apples, couple of cold drinks).
If this can't be done (even running one at a time) with a 750 Watt inverter, what other choices to I have for even the smallest of creature comforts as I mentioned ? Oh, and keeping warm when it's super cold and keeping cool when it's brutally hot.
