I'm headed for orientation on Sunday and need to know if I pass the physical and drug test which I will. What else could stop me from making it to training?

Just make sure all the paperwork is in order and bring it(med card, birth certificate,ss# ,DL ,#'s & addresses from previous employers etc) and you have a debit/credit card w/ you.Breakfast/lunch is on the house you buy supper.Don't get a meal from room service too expensive, send out for pizza w/other drivers. If you want a seperate room (they will make you share w/ another driver) you pay $22 extra.Bring a lot of non perishable food (such as Smuckers PPJ's) that you can eat w/o pre heating,as truckstop food gets expensive.Save all reciepts for next years taxes.Bring everything in a duffle bag and a warm sleeping bag for when the APU breaks.Buy a truckers road Atlas when you get OTR ,laminated w/ spiral binder.Best of luck!

Would they take that extra 22 dollars out of my first pay check or is that on me? I'm broke! And what about pay advance? I've heard someting about that somewhere else on the boards?

Well if you're broke just take the room they give you w/ a room mate, sometimes they leave, then you have your own room. You should only be in the hotel 3-4 days then OTR w/ trainer. You will get paid Fridays, the first week is held back.I guess you could ask for pay advance when you do your paperwork but don't get in the habit of it, those training checks are small enough already.lol
Update on my son;He was issued a truck, had to have them clean it,then when he was inspecting it found the APU was not working. They couldn't fix it so they had him take it to Carrier,he left it there and drove a repaired werner truck back to the terminal. If they can't fix his assigned truck till next week ,I'm going to pick him up and he can wait here at his house till it's ready. His dog is going to go nuts when he sees him;it's been 3 months since he's been home.Oh and he's off the training pay of $300 per week, cause his rig is sitting he's getting layoverpay $143 this week, won't make $ till he starts rolling.Oh by the way you headed to Allentown? cause that's where he's at.

A background check can haunt someone if they try to hide info like previous DUI and such.

About your signature, lol. About makeup, long ago, you know there was a real ugly woman somewhere, she stuck mud on her face....

I PMed you,he's home time now we picked him up 10PM friday night. Before that he got his APU fixed at Carrier (22 miles from the terminal) now the ABS light won't go off so he's got to take it to the Peterbuilt Dealer for repair Monday or Tuesday. The truck is an older Peterbuilt w/ 516,000 miles on it,but at least he doesn't have to mess w/ that new diesel exhaust fluid. Today we're going to get supplies; 2 lb hammer,Smuckers PPj sandwitches, maybe a cobra cb w/ bluetooth. We already got a Rand Mcnally truckers GPS from diesel boss $349.99 .They also throw in a detailed directory of truck stops and a really cool pen that lights up so you can write in the dark.So he will be in the yard when you are in orientation or waiting on your trainer, his name is Tom ,he's 6'1' 215 lbs. blond hair buzz cut ,w/ light beard.Once his rig is fixed at Peterbuilt dealer he puts in Qualcom available for load ,then time to roll. He's solo, till his assigned teamate(currently broke down in New Mexico) tests out and gets sent to meet him. Then, they're supposed to team on the dedicated Harley Davidson account 4-5K miles weekly.
Allentown terminal is small no showers for drivers, but since you take the shuttle back to the hotel every night, till they send you out w/ trainer, you can shower there. When OTR my son went for weeks at a time w/ no showers

Tell your son I would'nt worry about the ABS light as a fellow Werner driver about half of the time I pull a Werner Blue(I'm on a dedicated account that rarely pulls Werner trailers) my ABS light will stay on sometimes it will go off after a couple of hours sometime it stays on the whole time. Just a little advice I know since hes a new driver he wants to do everything by the book but with time he'll learn that if takes every little problem in to be fixed he'll spend his time at the terminal or dealer and not running and making money. About the abs light if he doesn't belive me have him ask around at the terminal or call his trainer they will probably tell him the same thing
