I'd like to find out from the folks here who you are using for internet access and what it is costing for your laptops, etc while on the road.

I have a cricket broadband card that was month to month that I could reactivate, but their coverage sucks unless you are in a major metro area, so I like to see what else the pros are using.

    Thanks in advance.

I currently have service through Tmobile, and my current phone (mytouch 4G running Android) is capable of creating wi-fi hotspots (tethering). Even though most carriers charge an additional fee for tethering, the current plan that I use has the tethering fees included. I used to have a Nexus One, and at the time it was the only phone capable of tethering.

I usually get excellent coverage in cities (like now for example), and when I'm stuck out in the middle of nowhere my coverage ranges from spotty to non-existant (Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, etc.).

Before I transfered my number over to Tmobile, I used to use the wi-fi hotspots at places like Flying J, Pilot, Petro, etc. The fees were small, and when I'm over the road I really don't use the internet that often unless I'm shutdown for a long period of time (34hr reset, etc.)

The Verizon cards are pretty quick.

    Samsung 4G LTE Mobile Card:
    Full Retail Price $269.99
    2-Year Contract $149.99
    Online Discount -$50.00
    PRICE $99.00

That is for the unit itself.
This is one of their Hotspot cards. I recommend it if you have a phone that can use WiFi, and multiple other devices that can connect.

Same here... Verizon broadband card, no complaints $50 per month. The network coverage is what you really have to look at - there are not a whole lot of places I can't get online at, even out in the boondocks.

For me its an indispensible tool, I'm not using it to say download video, so the 5 GB limit before data charges doesn't really affect me. I need it to download fuel location pricing, routing, weather maps, etc.

anyways, dont rest area or truck stops provide free wifi? I mean some mcdonalds even provide it and panera bread and other internet cafe shop, I mean I could save money without paying each month, I mean u cant really use the internet while driving so u better stop at a place and use it to do something useful like checking the weather and pay cell phone bills, check emails, etc.
