I will be starting Swift on the 11th. I have had so many questions, concerns and freak out moments during all this, But because of this forum, and Texas-nana, injun, and many others have made my decision alot better. I know the road is long, and scary, and lonly sometimes. I know that all truckers depend on each other to get through day by day whether by CB or just a cup of coffee in a rest stop. I also realize as a new driver and a woman, not all will be nice for me. But like I said before, after finding this forum, and reading many of your threads, I know that I have a ton of support out there, even if I face a challenge along the way, as I am sure I will face many. My last concern was my height. I'm onl 5ft tall. But I had great and positive responses from my thread Am I too Short. Plus my recruter Emily helped me as well. So thank you all for all that you have done, and I hope to be meeting some of you along the way. I am now positive I will be ok and do fine in training and otr. But I do have one or two silly questions......What is a DM, FM or any other abbrevevations mean? LOL Like I said, I am a newbee after all :biggrin_2554:.

Good luck....at least you don't have to "duck" under a trailer to get to the other side. You can probably run full speed right under a trailer...should save a lot of time fueling and such...lol...:biggrin_25523:

My wife is 5'0" - she did great in school and while driving - she and I did two years between Covenant, Southern Cal and CRE. We wouldn't have changed jobs except ugly things were happening because of $5.35 a gallon fuel in CA.

Don't turn on your CB while in truck stops or shiipers/receivers unless you have to - lots of idiots with dumb things to say...

I don't get the idiots ant more. At least, it's not as bad as it used to be. Apparently, they're either on their cell phones or listening to Stern on satellite radio.

Well like I said before, you all are great! I feel like I have already so many friends out there already. Even though I cant put any faces to you. But wish me lots of luck today. I have to retake my combination test. I failed by one last week. So I'm very nervous. Heck it is only 20 questions and I think Im ready. But cross your fingers and toes, say a little prayer so I can at least get that behind me before I have a nervous breakdown......:biggrin_2556: Make any suggestions any of you may have about warnings I may need to watch for at truck stops and layovers please. I'm sure I will know more next week. I just hate to seem totally stupid about things I should otherwise know. Things they dont tell you or teach you in training. Any way I'll update later about the test. Geez, I'm so freaking nervous. TTFN, got to study some more..:puke:
