I haven't seen any news reports or official LEO comments as to if she was texting or blinded by the sun.

Everyone here is making the assumption that she was on her cellphone because she was a teenager.

Why is everyone jumping to conclusions?

I would suggest that everyone hold judgment until there is an OFFICIAL comment on the cause of the accident.

Anything else smacks of rumor mill creation and is wrong.

    Have some respect.

No where in my post did I say this girl was on a cell phone. I related a story of a high school girl in Arkansas who was on one and was hit by a train when she crossed unguarded tracks. It's unfortunate like I said that this young girl was killed. And even if the sun was in her eyes, you as a driver are suppose to adjust your driving to the conditions of the road including sunlight. What do you want us to say? That she was not responsible for her accident? Well I'm sorry but by her actions she was responsible. I'm not saying she was driving recklessly. I don't know I wasn't there but it was an accident and accidents are caused by someone's actions or inactions.

People are making the assumption because 1) the police is investigating texting as a possible distraction, and 2) teenagers talking on cell phones while speeding down the road with no seatbelts are an all too common sight on our streets - at least they are where I live.

I think TruckerLlew was more offended by people calling her stupid.

I can't help it, though: It is my opinion that not wearing a seatbelt is stupid. Not slowing down when you get blinded by the sun is stupid. Letting yourself be distracted so severely that you don't see a large object in front of you when approaching a traffic light is stupid.

I just get bothered by people making judgmental comments without knowing the facts. The only fact I saw in the news report was the APPEARANCE of her not wearing her seatbelt. Everyone is hanging her because everyone ASSUMES that that she was using the cellphone or texting or doing something irresponsible. Nobody on this board was there to witness her before or at the time of the accident. Yet everyone thinks and assumes that because she is a teenager, she is automatically "stupid bimbo texting" or Stupid because she got blinded.

I don't know how many times I have come around a corner and gotten blinded by the sun. I have the experience to know how to deal with it though. Should it be found that blinding is the case, will you mistake her inexperience for stupidity?

All I have seen is folks tearing her down WITHOUT knowing the FACTS of the situation.

Whisper656233: I didn't make any post specifically toward you concerning cellphones. Please don't think I did.

Well, if that isn't a dumb thing to have done, I don't know what to call it. Be glad that she didn't take anyone else with her when she committed suicide.

It's true that we only have limited facts here. Unfortunately, it's very human to pass judgment based on whatever information is available, even if it's little to none.

I'm not going to comment on this any further, but I reserve the right to call her stupid should it turn out that she did indeed talk on her cell phone and/or was not wearing her seatbelt.

she probably got what she deserved everyone else that drives a truck on here has had to have seen people driving and texting, Driving and Reading a news paper, driving while Police type on laptops, Driving while Doing some Sort of Paperwork, Driving while going through a brief Case...

heck i've seen a woman driving in Ohio who was crocheting while she was driving, and made her husband hold the steering wheel i called the police and reported her plate it was out of state so you know they werent stopping any time soon, and 20 minutes later i passed them pulled over on the side of the road... SHE COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE IMAGINE THE REACTION TIME... husband "HUNNY'..... Wife YES "STOP"!!! 1.4 sec later to react brakes SLAM into someone killing a family, kid, elderly person, or themselves by slamming into a big truck messing up someone elses day due to a poor decision on both of their parts...

I have no sympathy for people like these Driving is #1 WHILE YOUR DRIVING
you have to pay attention to what your doing not just for you but everyone else arround you..

THERE NEEDS TO BE A Required Class in Every Highschool across the Country teaching people about Driving and how to drive and the Dangers of not paying attention, not a 1 month class but a 1 year Class and DRILL it into their heads how to be a good driver...

i know this is the most retarded sounding saying but it makes great since SAFETY IS NO ACCIDENT!

Stupid or not - 17 is to young to die. I wouldn't want to be in her parents shoes right now. Ecspecially after reading some of things she's been called here. I agree that the general public does a lot of stupid things when driving, but we weren't there and from the article it was still under investigation. I feel bad for the semi-driver to, put your place in his/her shoes, even though it's not their fault in anyway, anyone with an ounce of humanity would feel bad.
