You guys all seem to be putting personal safety over a shiny truck! I was thinking a old broom handle to put my rag on with mothers or that green liquid polish stuff. I know that if I did go the hillbilly route thatI'd want to put as short of a stud on the jig as I could, and to do the wheel holes with say a power ball while NOT rotating. I guess I'm saying I want to be safe, about being non safe.

That guy polishing the wheel with the truck running is pretty game, almost asking to be hurt, cant really polish all the wheel like this anyway, the second machine is better, at least you wont lose an arm.

I have seen a few that have been chromed lately, looks good and lasts pretty well.

The other thing to consider is once they are polished up good the first time it really doesnt take much effort to keep them that way, maintaining a polished surface wouldnt be any more work than pulling the wheels every month to mount them on a polishing machine.

just do what i did lol, i bought those chrome plastic tophats, this was all i gotta do is polish part of the face and out, i dont have to worry about trying to get around the lugs anymore, takes about 5 minutes per wheel now.
