As a mechanic that has seen many trucks that had pets, some were down right disgusting, some would not be accepted for trade in because of the smell.
I have seen a woman bring a truck in and it was brand new with kitty liter, about 2 inches deep all over the floor, not clean either. We had one customer, a very good guy he had three full size German shepherds in a Peterbilt, with the pass threw sleeper, about 40 inch size. Truck was immaculate so it can be done.
Most time that I have seen pets in trucks that worked was when there was a team.
Personally I would get a girlfriend and both of you get your licence.
Dog or cat on the truck?

All true, Condo. See, if I didn't already have a pet, I prolly wouldn't consider it. I've had this cat, Sassy, for over 12 years now. I originally thought of leaving her with my sister and seeing her when I'm home. But she's just as attached to me as I am to her. She is such a mommies girl and I sure as shootin need her. She could be such a comfort and joy and make life on the road bearable. So as soon as I am trained, and comfortable and kinda have a routine down, I'm gonna take her with me. If she can't seem to handle it or I sense she's unhappy, then I'll just see her when I can. I pray it works out though, cause I can't stand to think about bein away from my l'il meuslix ! -
SteelGal, have you checked with the company to see if they even allow pets? Having unauthorized pets (or humans) on the truck can be grounds for immediate termination. You don't want to just take your cat with you without first clearing it with your carrier.

Also getting more and more that CUSTOMERS have restrictions of WHAT / WHO can go on their property.

Yeah, I've already found out they allow 1 cat/dog after your training period and you're in your own company truck. -
cats taste better than dogs---you could just fatten it up then have a nice bbq

well with a cat, all I have to do if I deliver to a company like that is put her in her cat carrier on the bunk. she's real quiet, they'd never know

Growing up I moved many times with my two cats. One was fine when on the road the other not so much. Id try and drive around town with her loose in your car first and see how she does, might help her get use to being in a moving car as well. Best of luck

Excellent idea, soderlund. why didn't i think of that ? ! -
I bring my 95lbs. pitbull with me from time to time. I know where i can take him and where I cant and leave him at home when I know I am going to a place that dont allow pets on the property.
as for the liability of having a pet in the truck and having someone get bit, well if you r stupid enough to open my door with a 95lbs pitbull barking and showing his teeth thru the window then you are asking to get bit. Best security system ever. I would park in the TA in Jessup, Md with the windows down and go inside for dinner and not think twice.GuysLady Thanks this.
