Landstar Logistics has this load for $1800-2200 Trailer needs to be dropped for 24 to 48 hours and todays diesel price is $4.09/gal. Is this a good load to book if the milage they say is Approx 1500 miles from Carlisle PA to Wilmer TX. Pls make note that they have put many dollar sings on the listing?

It's good if you like to haul cheap freight...$1.46/m isn't something I would accept though...never have..never will..

I have been using a Christian based broker out of Florida. BHW Logistics will you keep you moving and they can get you some great rates, even coming out of Florida. They keep me moving with my dead head under 50 miles. You really cant go wrong in this economy.

Not something I would do. When I look at the loads from Central IL, my home base, loads that I have been notified on that would have PU today or tomorrow have a low rate of $1.04 with a high of $3.24 (removed the short runs). When I sort by agency, the one that posted the $1.04 load does not have anything listed above $1.41. The ones that have $2+ rates have few below $1.80. And I am looking at almost 150 loads with 300+ miles. And I am sure that I will get aleast 50 more notices tomorrow.

With LS, it is not about the overall company but the agency. They all are free to qoute the rates they want.

What can get frustrating is that some agents will undercut other LS agents. Almost had a good thing going on a load from home going to MI, 300 mile range, paying $980 at the time and another agent came in and now I see that load paying $450. :biggrin_25510:

And if it hits the public load boards they are desperate. Don't knock them if you don't have the full picture.

What I love best is knowing the rate before I call.

be careful with their freight check all the delivery times, I had wrong appointment times twice and was stuck for whole day to get unloaded and they treat you bad.

Peak Transportation Solutions, out of Byron Center, MI... overall a great broker. However, over the past several months, there has been continuous issues with a "select" dispatcher. Issuing incorrect pick-ups or locations, "double-tapping" deductions, as well as barely functioning on Fridays, leaving drivers to sit for a weekend waiting for a dispatch call... and those are just a few issues.

Though these may seem to really be just occupational hazards, when these events happen consistently, causing drivers to back track mileage, at their own expense, due to a mis-quote, one feels frustrated, as well as a hard pinch on the pocket book. Not to mention, it then becomes a huge "he said/she said" situation... of which no owner operator has time OR money for.

I am loosing my faith in our broker due to their lack of corrective action towards this "select" dispatcher.
