Driving in IL, around the chic go suburbs.

Owner operator pulled over for having an unsecured load. We drive trash to the landfill. The trash is always secured by a tarp but part of the tarp was either not properly secured or the wind tore part of it and some mostly paper flew out. Pulled over by a state trooper and got a 120$ ticket for unsecured load. Have a court date in mid may.

I am wondering if this will go on the cdl record, can I tell from the ticker? I asked DMV and they said they don't think it will but I would like a more confident answer. Figure id ask around here before I go looking and hiring a lawyer to clean it up from my record.

Also if you have any local lawyer contact recommendations please pm or post them here. We are located in northern illinois, west of Chicago.

    Thanks

It is going to depend on how it was written. If it is the same violation that would be given to someone driving a PU to the dump then no.

But if it had to do with load securement then yes. But being from IL myself I would be surprised it it was that type of ticket given the price. Seems low

Also, did the trooper do any kind of inspection? I have found that if they are not qualified to do even paperwork inspections then they probably don't know the codes to give you a load securment violation.

    failure to secure load....
HMMMM yep probably going to show up...
I am glad not you personally but for the type of hauling you do that YOU DID get pulled over....
i am so tired of riding behind you garbage scows and watching you just trash the roads your on...I have hardly ever seen one of you guys properly tarped...then have to clean up all the crapola off of my truck...
took me a week once to get a plastic bag off my truck once cuz after it flew out of your type of trailer it MELTED to my stack....Personally I hate it for you getting a ticket...but I am sick of the mess you guys leave behind BECAUSE YOU DONT TAKE THE TIME TO SECURE YOUR LOADS

Update, will go on the MVR of the driver but will it be classified as a safety violation for unsecured load I am not sure.

But I will second Landshark. I would be hard pressed to find one of these loads that is not dumping trash.

I agree with LandShark, I'm sick of all the trash on are roads & also dodged trash that blew out of trucks that wasn't secure. Just think if your family was behind a truck running 65mph in a mini van & a heavy piece garbage blew out & hit there windshield & made them lose control. A lesson learned is one that should not be forgotten.

It wont go against CSA unless a inspection of the truck was done. If it was just a ticked might go on the mvr but wont gon on csa.

I thought certain violations went towards CSA - like a speeding ticket - regardless of inspection. I know they can trigger audits and thought it was now the CSA items that triggered audits.

If you were pulled over it is going on your CSA score, inspection or no inspection anytime you are pulled over for anything anymore it is recorded on your CSA score.. Trash truck or Dump truck either one the locals need to start enforcing load securement, sorry you got your ticket but both types of trucks are rarely secured properly.
