That, folks, is what mace is for. If a person has clearly demonstrated anti-social, non-courteous behavior, and he/she has been spoken to by drivers and management alike, it's time to mace them.
Ok, Mr Jerk, enjoy your sandwich, soda and cigarette, but in the meantime, you can't see crap and your day is ruined for several hours.
There has to be a time where trying to be nice, even being aggressive doesn't work with some folks...
I preface the mace spraying with.. "sorry, I tried to be nice, as several other people did.. it seems that you don't care. That's cool, but I'll be you think about it next time."
If I'm going to wait behind someone like that, I'm going to make it worth my while.

Keep in mind macing someone could get you in more trouble than punching their lights out....

I don't think so, and that's another topic. I've used mace 6 times in 3 years, never heard a peep about it, even after talking directly with the West Monroe, LA police after the last time.

Yes, after being threatened to have my a&& kicked, sure. And twice with crackheads freaking out because I wouldn't give them money.
Bear in mind, for all the truckstop lawyers... "battery" is damage done during an assault that shows the impact of the assult, with semi-permanent evidence - like a black eye after you punch someone. You're into felony territory in most jurisdictions if you break a bone. With mace, sure it hurts, and ruins their day, but there's no "battery" (proven many times in all levels of court), and that's why it's approved for non-lethal force in police departments. Heck, a taser causes much more "battery" than mace.
This isn't the forum for this discussion, so I'll defer it, but enough is said that you're not going to jail for macing someone after they're threatened to kick your arse, or worse. -
+1? Les. In most States, "mace" (pepper spray) is considered a weapon just like a knife or firearm. It is deemed lawful to use when you are being threatened. Use-of-force laws apply: You may use the level of force necessary to stop the threatening behavior and no more. (Castle law does not apply to public access areas--like a fuel island.) The offending driver telling you to go pound sand, while infuriating, does not constitute threatening behavior. Neither does being in the way and refusing to move. Extremely inconsiderate, yes. But not a threat level to justify hosing 'em down with pepper spray.
Although plotting such things can be singularly gratifying. -
There's a difference between "hey buddy, pound sand" and "F you, I'll beat yer a&&". I wouldn't react in any manner that didn't directly relate to the way I was approached.
I'm a traimed POfessional, you know. -
