it won';t let me message you privately...I enjoyed reading your adventures...my significant other just left GSTC and has a clean license etc...anyway...although I no longer have my cdl...I follow the forums, and we are out of upstate NY...right near the PA border...you know as well as I do, it helps to know as much as possible.
He is driving a fill in job for a family friend, and I am doing the research for his next job...he should probably not left after so many years, but was trying to help them save their business, and it is just not enough for them or him......so thought I would ask if there is anyone I should contact, other than what is listed on their website.
Again, I have enjoyed your travels, and wish you safe ones...![]()

Well after a long trip I'm sitting at the Petro up the street from the terminal. I left the house around 7am Monday and headed up to Griffin GA for my drop and hook. I called the shipper on my way up to find out what trailer my load was on. They gave me the trailer number and I knew I would have to scale it out because it was loaded on a reefer. I got there around 6pm, drop and hooked, got my paperwork out of the back of the trailer and saw the weight was 44,350lbs. I figured I would be about 500lbs under gross but I wasn't sure about my axles. I left and drove to the T/A in Jackson and scaled out. My calculations were right on, I was grossing 79,400 and my axles were perfect.
I drove thru Atlanta and stopped for fuel in Commerce GA. I made it to the rest area just before Statesville NC on 77. I woke up yesterday morning and was headed north about 11am. I decided to stop at the terminal for fuel last night then went to the Petro for a shower. I left the Petro around 9pm and had 190 miles to my first drop in Scotia NY. I got to the first drop at midnight and finished my 10 hour break right there at the receiver. They said I could sleep right at the door I was in. Right at 10am I woke up and headed to my last drop at Mountain Top Pa. I got there at 1:30 this afternoon and was empty by 2pm. I headed the 18 miles to the terminal and put my truck in the shop for a service and a few write ups. I went up to dispatch and Louie told me I'll be out tomorrow.
I was at the yard for 2 hours and my truck and APU were serviced, 3 minor write ups were taken care of and I was back here at the Petro relaxing. I'll be home Friday night, deliver Monday and do it again next week. I told Louie last week I need to do 3 round trips to the house because I'm taking advantage of my dental plan here at Calex and decided to get my teeth cleaned and a few cavities fixed. I'm gonna say it again, It really makes life so much easier to be able to plan things at home. Working here satisfies my biggest need, home time and a life. Plus I work for a company that I enjoy working for, doing a job that I still enjoy after all these years. Thats it, talk to you all laterThe Challenger and Hitman Thank this. -
I applied last week and am currently waiting on a couple of employers to send back verifications. Hopefully they come back by the end of the week so I can do my road test and physical next Monday morning. I am so hoping that everything works out and I can become a member of the Calex team. It appears, at least by the accounts of all who are driving and posting here, that this is the OTR company I'd always hoped I'd find. Thanks John for starting this thread!

Got my load info. Drop and hook in Loch Haven Pa for a noon delivery Monday in Lakeland Fl. I'll be home around 7pm tomorrow and leave Monday around 7am for my delivery. Be safe all, God Bless.
The Challenger Thanks this. -
Saw a Calex truck southbound on PA309 in Tamaqua this morning and tried to talk to the driver on the CB, but he must not have had it on. I was wondering if it was you, John, since you were in PA, but seeing that you p/u in Lock Haven I guess it wasn't.
