Watkins Shepard, Here I Come

Ended up awake all night (all three of us) getting here, but figured it would be okay because we could get here, unload Tim's stuff into his truck, and all of us sleep well in a bed.

If only it worked so well...

Couldn't find Tim's truck anywhere. Tim decided to go to breakfast with his brother (lives in the area) and Joe and I tried to sleep. Bronchitis hit the low point and every time I lay down I coughed hard enough to gag (once to actually throw up). I stayed up front so Joe would sleep some.

Now we've slept a little, Tim has found his truck, and the shop is working on finding our part. Just get this load off our truck and get me a shower and clean teeth and we'll call this a wash.

 

We did our first team drop this morning (afternoon, local time). I really do like the physical labor side of flatbedding... it went well and Joe didn't send me back to "my place" in the truck.

No load out tonight, so I made a potato and chicken skillet for dinner while Joe fended off a lot lizard (ten minutes later and I'd have offered to feed her. We're sleeping in Atlanta for the night... can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.

JimDriv3r, doing better today, thanks to some strong cough medicine and a good night's sleep. Sounds like you and Lou are getting along... sorry about the sleep. I actually sleep better when the vehicle moves.

Today was my first "real" day. Went on-duty at 11:45 am with the pre-trip, then drove over to the shipper and *cough* did all the chaining and strapping by myself, since Joe was off-duty. Other than stopping for fuel, food, and much-needed showers, I then drove right up until 12:30 this morning... but it was only 412 miles. *sigh* What does it take for a girl to get those 600+ miles?

Joe just took over and I should be sleeping soon, since the receiver is expecting us at 11 am local... 7 hours away. At least Joe managed to get the day more or less off.
