It works this way. I have 5 years experience and been to 4 trucking schools. It is likely I can drive a truck better than most people at US Xpress but to fulfill the safety department requirements of having recent schooling I purchased a document that says I have the training.
It is kind of like a doctor at Harvard Medical School buying a document to practice medicine in the Bahamas. So fear not it is just business.

And if you have read my posts about Werner and Schneider you will see that are (in my opinion "####") much less desirable that US Xpress. The
fact that US Xpress hires all the time does warrant concern but not as much as the miserable experience offered in person (Schneider) and reported on this blog (Werner). Better to take two Vicadons and a shot of Jack Daniels than read those threads.

Well let us know if you get past the pencil pushers with that document.One of my twins is out of school 2 years and might have to either go back for a refresher or try your route.

One of my sons is caught in the Werner meat grinder.I thought they were a good company,but he's been with them since 1/3/11 and his $300 per week pay has actually gone down after training;last 2 checks were$141.and $176 (100 for tuition reimbursement) cause first they had no trucks ;then his assigned truck had a lot of work that needs to be done and not enough mechanics to do it. He spent one week in Allentown taking it to carrier (APU couldn't be fixed by werner) then to PEterbuilt to fix ABS light. Now he finally went OTR and they did a saftey inspection in Omaha and found 6 more thing wrong with it and there are 17 trucks ahead of his waiting to get fixed(why don't they fix trucks before they assign them to drivers?,when your truck is in repair you only get paid $20 per day).Also they said he braked too hard and his file is being reviewed by some boss in the safety department. If he had a family to support ,they would have starved to death by now;as a single guy he's just making enough to eat and buy clothes. He went in with a positive attitude and has given them his best shot but they are starting to wear him down. I'm starting to believe that it's almost like they want new drivers to quit;and the rumors about Werner are true.
I'll pass on the Jack Daniels but give me the Vics,I would like to be comfortably numb when helping my son to deal with stuffed shirts who have no sympathy for my son the driver. He just came into Omaha after driving all night,tired, hungry and this is the reception they give him.

I know what the recruiters say and that there are a lot of variables but can any of you current US Xpress drivers tell me approximately how much a new solo driver for US Xpress can realistically expect to make starting out at the base sliding pay scale?

sorry took me awile to apply I almost got in with prime with their truck school. But then I just didnt want to do it. To long away from home i start school in june now and looking at ho wolding, us xpress or schinder. Not to sure yet. Ho wolding said I would get 2500 miles to 2800 miles a week and its regional to. Us xpress told me they have regional jobs as well but i dont know if they are going to make me go on a team. schinder is regional as well still not to sure yet. Any info well help still have alot of time trucking school is 15 weeks long can't wait to get started. And hopefully get place in a deceant company.
