Probably true. But what can you do? As of now they just think we are dirtbags. Not all of them though. My co doesnt want me being rude anyway. And if they are too rude, my manager will usually give them a call and speak to their supervisor, right now its the best I can do. Most of the shipping/receiving clerks are just peons, and sometimes their supervisors will straighten them out. So I hear. I havent had to complain yet. I get detention pay, so they can do whatever they want I guess.

On Friday, I had a guard at Kroger try to extort me for a case of beer or he would hold me up a whole day, from now on my mini-recorder is going with me everywhere I go...I had a 9am Sat. appt, showed up at 12:30pm Fri, he said "We don't do early", I called Kroger and had appt changed to 4pm Fri, guard tells me he can still hold me and that I had time to get his beer...At 3:50pm I get on the CB(which is how we communicate with the guard shack) and said, "were you serious about holding me up a whole day if I didn't bring you a case of beer?" so the 30 other drivers sitting there could hear it...I was the first called and given a dock at 4pm...F him...

 

Wait until you go to the shipping office at Port of Galveston. The 'window' is one of those horizontal ones that hinge inward at the bottom. You literally have to bend in half or kneel down to look in and up at the person inside. Plus she doesn't want you to lean on, write on or reach through her window, and will slam it shut on you if you do. Pretty stupid and demeaning — but then almost everything is at that shipper. They load fruit there, but you're just a piece of meat.

 

I've had two super rude customers in my life, and thankfully, I'm never going back to either one of them. The one, after the clerk lied through her teeth to me, and her boss wasn't much better, I dropped the trailer and bobtailed 200 miles home. Went back early Monday to pick up the trailer, it wasn't ready,
"we don't load dropped trailers, and if you would have waited, the load was ready 30 min. after you left on Friday"
Really, when I dropped the trailer, your boss told me that the load wouldn't be ready til Sat. morning and you would load it over the weekend.
"well he was wrong"
I see, well get me loaded so I never have to come back to this ##### place

30 min. later I was on the road, 5 hrs later I was informed by dispatch that the customer had called the broker and told them to never send us there again.
This was some place in Wheatland, Wyo. that crushes rock into little rocks for landscaping. They went through all 5 drayage companies in my area before they finally got a clue, not to mention some OTR companies got tired of her.
