Say I dont drive/on duty for the whole 70 hrs in 7 0o 8 days does it keep going till I do or do I reset with the 34. If that is the case then when they say I will be out for 10 days at a time for home time. That means they dont have the work?

OK I forgot about the getting hrs back. Been since 03. " You wouldn't make any money that way cause you'd be sitting every 7 days you need to learn how to work the hours in the 7 days so you don't burn up hours. Because on the 8th day you gain back the hours you worked on day 1 " But is it up to us what we work? We call your DM and they assign you the loads.

No the 10 days might just be what it takes to do the run or runs they have that truck doing. You only count the last 8 days you have been working. For example you are ending day 9 the hours you worked on day 1 no longer count against the 70. So basically you can't work more than 70 or in a revolving 8 day period. So if you only worked 9 hours a day every day of the week you would never run out of hours so legally you could drive every day of the year.

To a certain extent it is up to you what you work if the load allows it. If you have an extra day on a load by all means spread the hours out, but sometimes you get that just in time load where you have to drive your 11 every day and forces you to burn the clock up.

So I can either run hard and take my 34 off at the end of the week or just strech it out by doing less hrs.

If I work 14 hours a day, after 5 days I have to take a 34 hour restart.
Then another 14 hours for 5 days.
11 days gives me 121 hours to lay down some miles.
To stay below the limt that forces a restart, you have to average less than 8.57 hours of on duty time a day. How much of the 8.57 hours a day can you drive to lay down miles? 8 hours? At this rate, after 11 days, you only have aprox. 88 hours to lay down miles.

I would rather shut down every sixth day and make more money. -
Yeah if you don't mine running hard, some people can't run like that. Also when I was otr maybe half of the loads had an extra day on them for a window so I would usually run easy and site see if I was in an interesting area. I have had to take many 34's out on the road and it sucks because most of the time you are stuck in the middle of no where, just how the load and hours worked most of the time. But sometimes ya get lucky and can take a 34 like I did at Niagara Falls. Good times..

9 Hours on-duty day will give you 63 hours in 7 days. You need to be on-duty less than 60 hoiurs in 7 days to avoid a 34 hour restart. How do you make money avoiding the 34 hour resart?

If I have to take my 34 does that mean I am useing home time because isnt that just more time the truck is not moving?

Yeah getting tired so guess I didn't write that correct. Time to go to bed. An no taking a 34 on the road doesnt count against your home time.
