Maybe it's because I'm in rural WI,....Maybe I'm just lucky??,...Most of the schools I go to either have a loading dock or a forklift/skid steer with forks,....
And a couple that don't call the neighbor/farmer to come over and lift them off,..............![]()

All this is true. My workers comp. carrier (liberty mutual) knows me very well! both knee's have had tears that req. surgery, i tore my bicepss tendon that req. major surgery and i tore my rt. hamstring all on the job unloading. Local is great if you can get full time. as far as peddling, you get paid for what you do but it is flat out work! for an LTLer when you peddle you are in the trenches busting butt sometimes. there are also days when lterally every stop is a dock stop but those days are far and few. however the benefits are leaving the terminal after your shift headed home and not looking back or sleeping in the truck.walleye, Jay1000x and jakebrake12 Thank this. -
Got lucky and landed a local flatbed job delivering steel Mon thru Fri. no weekends should do around 50k. It's work but the good thing about hauling steel is it is generally way to heavy for me to lift. Life is good.
Jay1000x Thanks this. -
Most of my time peddling freight was on the same route and it was mainly heavy industry so all I really did was bump docks and sign bills - peddled State College for a little while and realized that even with all the brain power in that town, they still had not discovered the loading dock yet. There were times I felt more like a package driver than a P&D driver. That was tough work - made the switch to line-haul that year.

There ya go!
Let the towmotors, cranes, hydraulic lifts, etc do all the work!!!!!
Your knees, back, shoulders, joints, etc will appreciate it in 15-20 years! -
This made me laugh out loud because I could see myself doing some dumb crap like that. HAHA

The job that I have lined up is drop and hook. No touching freight at all. So hopefully I won't get anything torn.

Ya I keep hearing it isn't like the old days of trucking. What a shame, I waited so long to do this.

Does the guy you know work at Sysco in Cleveland? I worked there and it is the worst job Ive ever had. Forget about the good pay, I had to hustle to work ONLY 14 hour days when they had a route planned for 16+ everyday.

Here's a shot of one of todays ton of fun Liftgate inside delivery. nothing light or cheap here. 2 skids of high end salon/ cosmetic products hanging on the lift gate. after years of liftgate deliveries, putting 2 skids on the gate is no problem provided they dont weigh over 3000 lbs. LoL, like a BT lifter jack can lift that much and like i could be able to move that much
Ha Ha.
