Where'd that post come from?? I couldn't find it in other than starhdoggies post.

If that post is legit, what your son said and the security guard said could be two different stories. Running a stop sign in front of the terminal or anywhere is a firing offense and shouldn't be taken lightly. What if he broadsided a minivan and killed someone? Sorry judge, I was tired, I'm inexperienced and I never been there before. That wouldn't fly in court. As soon as a student gets behind the wheel, even while in training, he is 100% responsible.
Even experienced drivers go to strange places everyday. You don't focus on a redlight when there are 4 sides to your truck. A truck driver is a scanning machine and even sees a squirrel taking a dump in the woods.
I know I sound harsh, but there is no excuse for missing a stop sign. The security guard probably seen it before and it wasn't his first rat job. He just got another cookie.

Your son has to be extra careful. The first year is extremely hard on a new driver. They are exposed to a new world. They do and see things they never seen before. Companies take advantage of young drivers and they don't make squat. You have to learn to deal with irrate 4 wheelers and customers. There's alot for a new driver to absorb the first year. Many don't make it. But if he toughs it out, it gets better as you learn and becomes a more normal job.

He should have been more careful, but the tester didn't even notice it till saftey read it from the onboard computer. Now he's damaged goods and werner thinks they own him;told him to come back in 6 months at trainee pay. He's going to check out Watkins Shepard he was told they may give him a chance if he explains the whole thing. He's going to a job fair at Smith Solomon 4/30/11 ;WS will be there along with a few others.

Go work for Werner and you'll find out for yourself how bad the company really is!

As for hard braking: I mean really?! We deal with enough crazy drivers cutting us off in traffic and slashing our stopping distance to bare minimums. Werner has a sensor on their trucks and Qualcomms that registers "hard braking". Hard braking is simply classified as an evasive maneuver to avoid collision with another vehicle or object. I suppose Werner would rather have their driver run over the vehicle or object in front of them instead of complementing the driver for avoiding an accident.

The goal of hard braking calls is to help drivers recognize situations where they are likely to brake hard. Once you can recognize them you can start to prevent them. Consider it continuing education, try to learn from it and go forward.
