We have an 04 MBN flashed to a 6NZ. Over the past month it has been smoking on start up and running a bit rough. I plugged it in and was cutting the injectors in and out and found that when I cut #4 it would stop most the smoke and almost not change the idle. So ordered an injector and I put it in yesterday but its still smoking. Same thing if I cut #4 it cuts most the smoke.

Could it be a bad injector? Or am I missing something here? We put in a reman 10R 1000. I can't see it even being possible that an injector cup could be leaking because it still starts well.

You want to start it off slow. Put it on Nicorette to start. After 6-8 weeks, if it is still smoking. Then you can try chantix. If that doesn't work, threaten to take it's allowance away! :biggrin_2559:

Sorry. I know your serious. I was just trying to add a little humor

Sounds like low compression from a failed head gasket or broken upper ring.

I'll bet ya a $100 it's a blown head gasket. After it warms up the smoke disappears because the extra heat in the engine is helping to burn the fuel in that cylinder. When it's cold there isn't enough heat to burn the fuel completely and you see white smoke.

The liner sunk, you'll need to cut the counter bores and shim them all up to spec

    SHC Thanks this.

That would get him a out of service as DOT does not allow Chantix. His MBN may have an issue w/drowsiness.:biggrin_25525:

Excellent just what we need right now..... If it is a blown headgasket where would the compression from that cylinder be going?

On the newer style heads with the relief cut between the cylinders, the headgasket leaks compression up in to the cavity.

Got you pm, will call you today, I have been working out of the country for the last three months, back in the shop now.
