####, can I get a job app from you guys please. That is about as fair as a company could ever get.
Starting off as an O/O its all about money in the bank. Preparing for inevitable break down, and fuel money to run on. If ya don't have that you better bring a shovel cause you're gonna have to bury that truck where it broke!
BTW, I run a reefer, so maybe its a bit easier to find those loads our of FL. than flatbed or otherwise?
need a good /fair company to lease on with

I have an account that is going to start giving me a load or two a month down to Tampa. Getting the chance because others running for $2.50/mile plus fsc are asking for more than $3. So starting seeing what type of loads coming out of the area. Man my email blew-up. Yeah, a lot of sub-$1.50 rates but was able to feel comfortable that I can get over $2.
Don't get me wrong. Called on plenty of loads that offered me $300 and $400 on 500-600 mile loads. Are they booking them for that I do not know. But it won't be with me.
So if you know how and where to look you should be able to make money coming out of FL.
I am not sure what all these drivers that are complaining about rates for certain areas are doing. I have been able to find solid rates for my van in all of these so called cheap freight areas. Just have to look a little harder at times and not get pissed when the broker insults you. -
You are researching Florida rates right now? HUGE mistake if you are going to be bidding long term rates into Florida based on them.
We are right in the middle of a 6-8 week long boom market for Florida that exists every year. A month or so from now, you will realize why the people were quoting those inbound loads to Tampa at the price they were.
Don't get me wrong, you could stumble upon some good paying, regular freight coming out of Florida, but it's not easy.
My trucks run Florida year round, but I am one of the lucky ones who has found some good paying consistent, year round loads to come back north. -
i think ur right, east coast pays,u just have to know the ropes, see mercer example
-
we have to boycott cheap freight!quick buck,do the math, like a hooker, till u get there seems ok
-
What would you say is the average year round rate coming out for a dry van?
I can get $2.75 + FSC going down. I have no issue coming back part way MT at that rate. I can get plenty of good rates in GA. -
I couldn't give you an educated answer as I am in the reefer business. I will say that it will be significantly lower than it is right now though.
Right now is the busy season for reefers in Florida(outbound). Once the harvest moves out of Florida, all of the reefer carriers that run to Florida regularly to deliver inbound reefer freight will be in direct competition with you dry van guys again just to get any kind of money out. That will obviously drive the rates back down to what they are for most of the year out of Florida. -
im in Florida, im leased on to Jones Motor spring city PA, i am happy with them now im learning the ropes, i get out of Florida for $2 a mile, but that will change soon after the season ends, then i will leave my truck in Atlanta and fly home, email me if you want more info on Jones.
Good luck
