I'd reneg on that deal, and start with a company truck. That's just me. You sacrifice benefits and insurance you'd have as a company driver for, what? A truck that goes 6 MPH faster?
Does he actually own the trucks, or are they leased through Swift? If they're leased through Swift, he's staying right there - he can't lease those trucks on with anyone else. If he owns his trucks, and goes to another company, there isn't any reason you couldn't get put in a company truck - you'd actually be better off, IMO.
It's up to you what you do, but don't expect to come out ahead on this deal.

    he leases onto them
i know swift isnt really the best comapny but the fact is they give you a place to get your foot in the door thats how i see it and move up if need be
the lease to me just doesnt seem justified unless your running teams in the truck it seems almost cheaper to buy a truck outright i am just worried if he cuts bait if i will be without a job again

Yeah, he leases onto them.. any O/O or LO does. The question is where his trucks come from... did he buy them outright, or did he get them through Swift's lease purchase program?
If he has them through the lease purchase program, he can't take them to another company.
Everyone starts somewhere. I started with Swift, in their flatbed division. It'll ultimately be what you make of it.
If this is something you see as a possibility, it's another point which should be made when I say you're better off starting as a company driver. Swift isn't going anywhere - they'll be Swift, no matter what this fleet owner does.
