Hi! I'm new here and and noob to this life. I have a question, I have applyed to a trucking company and have gonne to orientation passed my physical and my drug test. 2 concerns they have sleep abnie(sp) and they think I have an alchol problem. Okay I have no DUI nor DWI and I always call a cap. I only drink weekly to bi-weekly on my days off after work and sleep it off saturday and sunday my usuall days off.. When my days off i drink around 18 beers. Well company thought I will have to see a pyschologies or a program or something, I didn't hear where I had to go. Can someone help me where I have to go to get that cleared up and why they would want me to see that person.Thanks.

i dont want to sound like im attacking you here but this is a reoccuring type of post that im seeing on here regularly and im starting to get worried. what concerns me is that if a company asks you to visit a pyschologist or counsellor then maybe you should make a serious reconsideration of you chosen career path. i for one would not like to be driving anywhere near someone who had drank 18 beers on a 36 hour restar, i dont care if you consider it days off. just my opinion on the entire matter , not a personal attack on the poster.

I hear you, but I do this at my home. I have no Dui or DWI. So is it really permited and against rules to have a some beers or be a beer drinker while on your own time meaning no driving nor near it being a safetly violation.

While it might not be "none of their business" what or how much you drink while you are not working, if you drink enough it will affect your work one way or the other. It might not be obvious to you but "they" want you to go see someone for a reason so maybe it would be in your best interest to listen to them. Were you working for this company before you got your license and if not, how is it that they think you have a problem?

No I wasn't working for this company before I got my license. I was working at a warehouse being a selector or order picker driving a carjack. I left that went to truck driving school and got my license and went to orientation. I was told I would require to have to do there DOT so did that and pass. Told me to fill out a form asking me if I drink or smoke. I said yes to drinking, no to smoking. They ask me how much I drink while sitting I put 18 beers and this while having my warehouse job and having saturday and sunday off. It does make sense they don't want drunk ##### on the road and if I have to go to the process of someone saying I don't have a problem then I open it all pays off.

Talk you your doctor. You will probably refered to Mental Health Dept.

Or you just need to find an AODA Counselor. AODA-Alcohal and Other Drug.

As long as it is not court ordered, you may want to go to a family and marriage counselors with some background in alcohal dependency counseling. Call around.

Why not just quit drinking if its may be an obstacle?

I am curious why you put down eighteen beers?
