I used to see May's help-wanted in the Salt Lake Tribune every day of the world, so I never applied at their company. Sounds like I made the right move.

best listen up to these stories...they may sound bitter...but most are true...you'll learn -
I remember in 05 during the winter I pulled into the Pilot in Ontario OR to chain up the truck and they had 4 or 5 drivers from May on the phones telling the term in ID the roads were to bad to drive on .
I had a Temp dedicated account out of UT to Vancouver Wa that requred chaining so I was just in their to tell my company I would drive to the back up at MM 56 in the Dalles were the road was shut down and deliver when I could. Meanwhile the May Drivers were Being told to chain and go and the drivers kept saying it was not safe, which is their call. I went out and hung my chains and came back in and one female driver was crying becuase they told her to chain or get on the grey dog home and they would bring someone up from the term in ID to p/u her truck and load.
I told her to just tell the terminal ok, no problem and chain the truck and sit till it was safe for her to drive. I learned long ago you just tell them what they want to hear and they will leave you alone most of the time. Then you protect yourself and your Driving record.
It was a long ride to the dalles and the road was shut down, so I spent the nite in my sleeper on the interstate till the next day anyway.
What was May's rush? Who knows I guess they are like many company's and get off on pushing their drivers to see what they can get them to do. -
I have descided to drive down to May for their orientation and see how it works out. Since it is close, I won't have far to go if it does'nt. I will post here one way or the other to let others know.

I think this could be said of companies that advertise: the bigger the ads and the more frequent they advertise, the more turnover they have. Then you have to ask yourself this: WHY? Is it bad policy or bad dispatching? Maybe its bad equipment?
There are a lot of reasons people quit companies, you just have to get to the heart of the problem.
I know way back when I worked for a small regional company, we got bought up by a bigger company, Rules changed, Policy changed, Dispatches changed, and a lot of drivers left. I was one of those drivers. You may now know that company as Priority Transport, a Transit Group Company.
Whatever you do, and for whomever you may work for, remember this, recruiters lie, dispatchers lie, and Drivers lie too. Don't believe it? Go sit in a truck stop restaurant for an hour and just listen to everyone talk.
I remember what a friend of mine, and trainer with USA Trucking once told me he told all his students "Everyone hates the first company they ever drive for."
There is much to learn, a new lifestyle to adapt to.

Insults, DAC reports, shady companies. My God what has happened here! Excuse me while I go hide under the bed and try to calm myself. They steal your money to pay Dac to screw you over and you are afraid you might insult someone. What planet are you guys from. I wrote a letter to DAC once making a few corrections while thretening to sue. DAC is used by every company or was used yrs ago to screw over any driver who quit for any reason. I have been driving for 25 yrs. Everyone of them is as shady as they come. They get big by competition by every shady method they can and when the owner gets rich, the feds, IRS sees the fat fish who hires lawyers 24/7 to keep them at bay until he can change the name of the company or file baamkruptcy or flee the country, if he has neglected to pay the right politician. See comments about Freymiller in another post and you get the idea. The list is a yard long in small type. Any information you send to Dac will come back as information provided, that is they have been paid and know what you are saying is true, but you are not paying DAC, the company is. This is sufficient to let DAC know that you are on to them and they will correct any blatant nonsense for fear a lawsuit against them. The Fedearl law states that employers are only allowed to give dates of employment for employees and nothing else. Too many companies got sued for the very reason that they were smearing fromer employees. Unless you are hauling dynamite, haz mat, radioactive whatever with govt. contracts entanlgements, then they are not allowed to get away with these smear campaigns but drivers let them get away with. Sue the ######## and do your homework. Why do drivers let these criminals who steal every dime you make get away with it?
nonstop and Rocketman007 Thank this. -
Yep. I have been working for that ######## too. Dont want to say much. Only this: BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD

When i joined this website last year i felt the same way, i have never seen so much negativity but have gotten' used to it. i want to bring this to light. Ya, Dac is a problem i guess for some drivers, i have had no problems with Dac at all. What drivers need to know is when, and this is for the most part, than when a driver fills out an app. for new employment there is a seperate sheet that the driver has to fill in there own name and then sign it. This is a form that gets sent to your former employer and it will ask if the job was a sensitive position for drug testing and the dates of your employment and so on. There is also a question on there that will ask if you the driver is eligable for a rehire or recall, it's yes or no.What do you think that your new employer is going to think when that is marked no. You can go after Dac but you cannot go after that sheet of paper, i just filled one out for a new job, you can only hope that your former employer will just throw it away like some companies do.

I have been working for May for 6 months now and I have noticed a big drop in the miles that I'm getting, I dont fault a company for having a slump or two. I can say from my experience that they are a good company. If I have a problem, they are pretty good at getting it fixed, which is more than I can say for Rush Peterbilt in Phoenix [ 2 days to fix my front shock] really! really! c'mon Rush, get the frikin lead outta your hum hum, and get some trucks fixed, will ya!
