I made it through the night in the truck. Yes, lane ave right off I-10, real ###### place. I understand the world isn't a fairy tale place and I know that I am too nice foor my own good. As far as letting them in? Alright its like this, I'm sitting there watching deadliest catch when a girl knocks on my door, (the windows open and she can see me so I can't just blow her off) I answer the door and she asks to use my phone. I say "uh I don't think so, I'm pretty sure it gets billed to the room," she doesn't really hear me say no and pushes past me into my room, albeit not in a forceful way but in a way that doesn't command any kind of rebuttle either. You see, I'm honestly too nice for my own good, I've never been able to say no to people and this is something I know I need to change in order to be out here. Trust me, I'm trying. Its just hard to say no to people as they are pushing past you into your room and being friendly at the same time. After her I had the window curtain closed but whenever I would go out to smoke a cig there would be large men pettling drugs and the pimps of the girls asking me if I wanted to "Meet someone" (just to tell you how naive I am, it took me a while to figure out what "meet someone" actually meant). I will toughen up in time, I feel better today waking with the sun. Today my door will be locked and the curtain closed and I'm going to just smoke in the room. I slept in the truck and I hope it doesn't have any reprucussions but it was honestly my safe haven. As far as palmetto bugs? That's what the locals told me too. Just a nice name for the american ####roach, google it. This actually may be my turning point, I've been walked on a lot because of my kindness but if another person asks me if I want a blowjob? I'm going to smack a hooker. Thanks for the help.

    Lonesome Thanks this.

Get a cab and go down to the river walk in downtown, good restaurants, shops, and all around good vibe right on the river. Atleast it will help pass the time, as for another trainer, I would just stick with the one you've got if you're so close to being done, it's not his fault that Werner put you up in the questionable motel, and hell maybe Werne doesn't even know the status of that place, if it were me I'd just make a friendly phone call on Monday letting them know how sketchy the place was.

Thank you for your suggestion. I think this is what I shall do. Ill pass the time and "grow a pair" when it comes to these people. How funny is that though? I felt better in my truck than in my room. It must have to do with the fact that, to them at least, there was no "boundry" when it came to my room. They act as if it is their constitutional right to be allowed in my room. Now my next concern is being fired; thanks to the scare tactics employed by the werner haters here. Ah well, 17 more hours with my current trainer and I should get my PTO just in time for my 4 year anniversiry. Thanks again for all the supportive help here.

You are going to interface with many prostitutes and drug dealers in your trucking career. Just be polite, show no disrespect and tell them some lame excuse that you don't have any money and you'll be okay.
It's not like they are out to rob you. They are just cheap, lowlife businessmen! As soon as you say you have no money, they seek out the next customer.
I always say something like I don't get paid until tomorrow or I didn't get a check this week. Seems to work well.

People say the same things about Swift, JB Hunt, Covenant, etc...

Shine it on and make your own way. Message Jolsen and ask how Werner's treating him. And try to shine on the negativity. It is aimed at any large company. You have to find where you'll be happy.

Me, personally? I'd rather hide under the umbrella of a large, stable company until the economy evens out and the guv'mint figures out what it's going to do. Right now, truckers are just another ping-pong ball being whacked back and forth between Democrats and Republicans. One side never likes what the other side did and thinks it needs to be changed. Too bad FMCSA is not non-partisan like it's supposed to be.

Anyway, my point is, if you feel comfortable with Werner, grow a thicker skin and ignore the hecklers....even me at times. Use the chain or latch lock on your motel room door when you're there and don't leave anything valuable in there while you're out. Don't open the door unless you know who's on the other side of it. Like maybe you ordered pizza or something. Hang the "Do Not Disturb" thingy on the door knob.

Make little leashes for the palmetto bugs and give them names. Train them to do tricks, follow a maze, make them do your laundry.... If you have a room that does not have bedbugs or fleas, you're actually doing pretty good. In Florida, you won't get away from the palmetto bugs. Okinawa had water roaches of similar size and they were everywhere, even in the cleanest houses.

My trainer is on his home time. Lmao Injun, I don't want any roach buddies anytime soon. I don't mind rats and snakes just the creepy crawly insects. In MN the grossest thing we have are centipedes which you only see once in a blue moon. I'm just scarred for life after the incident happened. I was watching an episode of Modern Marvels (one about frying I think) and this little #######...ahem...big ### ####### comes crawling across my field of vision! My heart is instantly pumping by now, I was in a full on fight or flight mode. I leapt of the bed with stunning agility and the little #### head pauses when I do this. He turned around and looked at me! Looked at me! I swear to god there was complex thought happening in that little head. After "evaluating" me he turns back around and runs across one of my pillows. I can't see it so I pick up the pillow and throw it against the wall and he reappears. He must be pissed by now because he starts running AT me! I do a tuck and roll away from it but it must have esp because it instantly turned in the direction I jumped. Finally it gave up and ran under the bed and I grabbed all my stuff and got a new room. Seriously the scariest battle of my life thus far. Fleas? ick. Do they travel with you? As far as Wener is concerned I'm ok with them. Not as bad as soo many say. Honestly, if they say this is bad; I'm soooo excited to get experience and go to a "good" trucking company because this is easy (minus the hookers, gangbangers, drug dealers, and roaches of course)

Thanks for posting that, you saved me the trouble.

If it's truly unsafe, that's one thing, but letting people into your room? Bugs?

"My trainer is on his home time" thats apparent , but does he live near there or just shacked up in another room. Again who picked this hotel , trainer or company ?
