I agree, get your CDL and team it. You will make more money and have shared responsibilities. Plus the one not driving cooking, reading directions, checking QC, etc etc would come in handy a ton. Or tell her to pay you for the work you do and just deposit in ya'lls shared account. (sorry my sense of humor is pretty bad but it made me laugh).
Is there a job I can do as a rider?

Permit is what I stated. -
Having someone to spend the time with when you are on the road could be a God send, or it could be pure hell. It just depends on your relationship.
It can be nice to have a navigator. It can be nice to have somebody to do the grunt labor stuff that goes along with driving.
But, keep in mind that if she is working for a company, they will have to approve you as a ride a long. If she is an owner/operator, she will need to have you covered by her insurance.
As far as you making money while doing this, I have no ideas. Maybe you could pick up money "lumping" for her on occasion. I don't know.
What I do know, is that you need to have a long straight talk with your lady and find out what SHE is looking for. Then make your decision. -

But permit was clearly in my post.
You would be surprised at the number of tickets issued for driving a vehicle where a CDL is required with just a regular license. -
-
U don't need any permit in Ontario just a drivers licence and a class A driver with you.
That's how I learned.
acorse that was "back in the day", things change weekly it seemse but then again "the more things change the more they stay the same" 4rrr
sry for all of these """" -
To actually answer the o/p question - no.. most shippers and receiver don't want rider out of the truck and some won't let you on the property. My company makes riders sign a form which forbid riders from doing what you are asking.. you are a liabilty and not covered by insurance to be 'working'
Get your CDL and team.. -
