Do you have any idea if/when the rules changed?
I actually did my CMV driver training in the U.S. (1984 in OK) and the only license I had at the time was for an ordinary passenger vehicle. Exactly the same conditions as I posted could be the case up here. I didn't do any written tests, nor were any permits issued. I assume that because I was legal in a learner capacity in my home province, that condition was recognized in OK... as is normally the case with a full license.
Is there a job I can do as a rider?

1992 when the US started requiring all drivers of commercial vehicles to have a CDLBig Don Thanks this.

BLANKS things have changed in 20 years. Today in Ontario you need a MOT physical carried out then pay $85.00 to write your BEGINNERS permit , to allow you to be trained for your A lic with Z airbrake endorsement ( CDL ).
-
Well I can tell you drivers were better when I learned than they are today I mean commercial drivers and that's no BS or whimsical memoir. CMV drivers today are the worst drivers on the road. worse than 4 wheelers imo
they need to get back to learning to drive instead of learning to pay feesLast edited: Apr 30, 2011

Thank you for lumping us together once again... you know like all oldtime drivers are fat and smell bad.... worse than street bumsU4EA Thanks this.

Eat right and exercise or you'll find that may well be the case.
sry but I'm really tired of dodging all these "permit holding" trainees out there and really don't remember having do so as much as lately.
seriously you all know what it's like when your at a truck stop and you see a swift truck , you want to hide in the corner and hope he/she/it doesn't come anywhere near you, do I lie.
some of the best drivers I've seen on the road are these Mexican drivers, they driver better than most any N American drivers.May be they should send their students to Mexico first to learn how to f******* drive. -
Actually I try not to be so judgemental when I see a particular carrier's truck.. just because a person drives for a mega-carrier doesn't automatically make them a bad driver nor does 20 years experience make them a good driver. Some people have 20 years experience doing the same stupid moves... some folks who have had a CDL less than a year have driven heavy equipment down the road for more than 20 years.
FYI: I do eat healthy -
bc and sk you need a learners license for whatever class you are learning----been that way since at least 1990

Not sure i understand the question. Do you want to ride along and have a separate side business while riding along?
-
Yes, I want a side business because I don't want to drive for personal reasons. If you know of a side business that I could do either on the internet or that can be done while riding please let me know about it.
