Suppport Thread for the TND 500, TND 700 or future Rand McNally products.

Sounds like the same issue I had with the first 710 I got. rand ended up sending me a whole new unit. call support, they will send you a pick up tag, send it back to them they will check it out and fix or send you a new one.

 

The Tom Tom is not truck specific at all. Why not just return it, set the money aside, and make a decision whenever you get around to it? Try calling RM instead of emailing. I've usually gotten a response within 24 hours of emailing RM, so I can't imagine why you have received no response. However, if the issue is free map upgrades, the answer is that they are not free. HTH.

Hey Mark, do you have any idea when the new maps might be coming available for the TND 500? Does the TND 510 have the new map database in it or do they have the same database that the 500 currently has?

 

Did it to me again last night. Error came up on the screen. Said something about Nav.exe having a serious error and had to shut down.

No, they do not. The 510 / 710 database is dated Dec, 2010.

 

We just got a map update this past fall. You mean they released a new map set just a few months later?

 

And the 510 / 710 just came out in February. It makes sense that they would put the most current map database on those at the time of release, right? Same thing when they finish with the 2011 first quarter update that is being finalized in QA right now. Once it is released then I would assume that new units being manufactured will then have those maps rather then the current set that is on them now.

 

I all know is when I turn it on it says my maps are over a year old. And I believe it due to being on many newer roads that are 6-9 months old and I am driving though the corm fields according to the gps.
