Every trucking company knows when this happens as it's well advertised.
Any company that allows a truck that won't even pass a rookies PTI on the road deserves what ever they get!
ME? I wished for an inspection as I knew I would always pass! And make some extra cash when I passed! That's the sign of a good company. When they offer a reward for passing a DOT!
That's the difference between a GOOD company and a POS! If I said it need fixed and they said pull it it would be parked! No one is bad enough to hold a gun to my head to make me drive a POS trailer.
Especially now that the CSA rules are in effect there is no way that I'd pull anyone's trash!
You're the driver and if you do this for a paycheck then take what you get and look for a better job!

They don't need to do this. I've already checked the roads. They're still there.
Pilot also needs to quit asking for a courtesy check on the restrooms. I've never heard of one being stolen...
...and that weekend will be my time at home in June anyway....panhandlepat Thanks this. -
Good to know. Will park truck at terminal for a week and take "hometime" then....

My company has been making every necessary effort to keep their trucks in good condition and compliant with FMCSA rules. My company also gives us bonus if we get a "clean" inspection and charges us if we get a "dirty" one.
However, there are some officers out there that will find some problem even when there's nothing wrong
and that's why I don't welcome any inspection even if I know the truck is fine.
Recently I got a level one. Officer really wanted to find something wrong. He laid down under truck, measured every inch of that truck and all he found was 2 chips on the windshield, passenger side.
Interestingly, 2 days before that, I had requested company in writing to fix those chips but was told they were not a violation.
Well, officer didn't care and gave me the violation anyway. I didn't argue cause he might find something else "wrong"...
However, I did take pictures of those chips, from every possible angle, with tape, ruler and sent them with a challenge to FMCSA. And also called DOT on it.
I read the code and those chips were much smaller than what the law allows. So they were not violations.
One month or so later, the violation was removed and so were the points. But I don't need another hassle like this.... and company doesn't give us any bonus on challenged inspections...
