I have never been through the border in under two hours going north. Going south is a toss up. The last time it took me five hours to get through.

I would take a recorder and record everything he and you say, then go to his supervisor.

OP, you fight the law, the law will always win.

Be smarter than that, have a talk with his supervisor. I guarantee you, you ain't the first person to knock heads with him. He probably has a long history of complaints, and you adding to it could be the final nail in his coffin.

Request a supervisor or senior customs inspector. A few of these power trippers at the borders,

Was a female at Buffalo Ny with same ATTITUDE , but it was always the drivers with ATTITUDE regardless of how polite you were she SNARLED back.

Probably! I was married to a 5'6" tall guy (I'm 5'8"). He wanted to whoop everybody's hind end. Including mine.

i would complain to his supervisor--either in person or with a registered letter--
port huron used to be very bad--and i know they had to clean up a bit because there were so many complaints
they have a job to do--and it can be done with out being a hard ###--there are lots of good ones working the booths--but unfortuanately the bad ones are the ones that are remembered

The worse he is, the more polite you should be. The Customs area is a place where you have no rights, and everything can go wrong, it's all up to the person in uniform who can play God. It is far better to be more polite than you should or need to be vs. an overbearing idiot, and get thru, than to be "right" and be stuck there for who knows how long, or rejected and then have more aggrevation with your company.

You might want to check the actual rules on having a passenger in the truck that's not on the ACE. At work we got a memo saying if the passenger wasn't wasn't listed on the ACE we could be detained or possibly be charged with a form of smuggling. Our compliance guy is a little over the top but I'd make sure before I'd lodge any complaint. Good Luck.

I think I'd add any passenger on the ACE, just to prevent this from happening. :biggrin_25525:
