20 Years retired US Navy, the first 12 I was a nuclear weapons technician that worked on every type of warhead the Navy used. We had to change the components that had limited life plus had to ensure the reliareliability stayed at 98.9% reliable. A very high stress job. Then the last 8 years I went into the Navy Seabees as a heavy equipment operator and that was fun. All throughout my career I had chances to drive part time and some were 8 or 9 states on the weekends. One year I did so good I couldn't figure my taxes and I sent it in with a note " your guess is as good as mine". IRS does not have a sense of humor. The Seabees was the best job I ever had.
I then went to several trucking companies looking for the best and found it with ARCO hauling gasoline. They closed the terminal and offered me a golden handshake to retire early or transfer to another terminal. I took the retirement. So I retired for the second time and haven't worked since 2000. I went out at 47 with 4 different incomes. It's been great.
What was your previous prior to trucking? (For those with a career change)
