Looks like I will go to Orientation in Fontana around the middle of May, I live in Phoenix and looks like 11 Western is the ticket. Question: After Orientation and driving with the trainer, do you drive solo or are teamed with another new-bee?

That all depends on what you signed up for, make sure you know before you get to orientation. If you unknowingly signed up for teams and you want to be solo, you will most likely be stuck doing teams for 6 months. Talk to your recruiter and let them know what you wantto do. I had a few people in my class that wanted to do solo and were told by their recruiter that teams were only available...who knows if that's true or not...just make sure you know what you signed up for.

I had the same thing happened in my orientation too. A couple of drivers didn't listen to the recruiter and asked to switch fleets durring orientation. They were a little upset when the were told no, but it was their own fault. How's the road treating you Socalchuckster? I'm considering going back to western regional homerun.

I have my good weeks and bad weeks. Staying busy but at the same time I've been getting loads going to Texas, and even as far as Illinois and Kentucky the last few months (last time I checked those weren't in the western 11 lol). Don't get me wrong, mileage is good getting loads like those, but I picked western 11 because I get the chance to be home once a week while on my DOT 10 break. Almost had a load going from Arizona to Canada, but it didn't pan out. I'm honestly getting ready to talk to my DBL about finding a local route, something that gets me home a few times a week or with SOME kind of planned schedule would be nice for me and the Wife.

Local routes are great for family and hometime! Lol. Good luck finding one. I've been looking for a dedicated account to get on to with no success. What have your avg weekly miles looked like lately? I have a friend that just left western regional. He said he was averaging around 1000 per week and whenever he asked for more he was told there's nothing available.

FYI - When I applied with Schneider a couple of weeks ago, I had a choice of 11 Western or Part time 3-4 days a week driving Phoenix-San Berdoo-Sacramento. I asked for Western 11. (I start orientation Sat May 14 in Fontana.)

I drive intermodal in Los Angeles for SNI now. I'm thinking of going back towestern regional home run, 2 weeks on 1 week off. You're doing experienced orientation?
