My check engine light came on, called the international dealership in Tuscaloosa, al, to see if i could bring it in. They ask me what type of engine i told them a CAT. The told me they couldnt check it , because they dont have a scanner, only scanner they have is for a detroit.

Seems to me if your a dealership , you should be set up to work on CAT and Detroits...

International is no longer a dealer for CAT or Detroit or 2010 and up Cummins.

Everything is going back to the old days where one type of engine is available for the trucks and your only choice is horsepower.

That sucks, but good to know. Always thought IH would stay a CAT repair shop with their alliance on the new trucks/motors.

Guess we will all have to go back to the old days as well & just fix them ourselves.

It does suck. and FYI, it probably just depends on where your at. I work at S&S and one of our laptops has Cat ET on it. That dont make sence but its there.. Just depends on what there willing to spend on diagnostic equipment and the licensing for the programs. Why would a Detroit and Mercedes dealer have Cat on there equipment?

Shops like Ryder, Penske, etc.. spend fortunes on there scan tools cause there expected to have Cat, DDDL, Navistar, GM, Ford, Cummins, etc ... I was in Ryders rebuild center and the last laptop we got that was fully ready to use with all the software installed, the P.O. was over $16,000! And then you have to update and spend more money on the licensing when it expires.. Its not a 1 time expense.

I work at an Int/Pete dealer and were still authorized to do warranty work and sell parts for CAT. Alot of dealers i'm thinking dont want to deal with CAT due to the grief CAT's giving to dealers and customers. Int. dealers are still cummins dealers but they can't work on the 2010 product.

Haha ya we have DDDL and were not a detroit dealer. But were expected to have it. We have cust. with s60 MBE 4000 ect. that bring their trucks to us to be worked on.
