Heyl runs out of Florida, closer to Tampa I think but have to run through the panhandle to get there.

Finding an OTR gig that is decent is going to be hard without having the required experience, most OTR companies don't want to recognize local driving as experience, and the fact that we're in Florida makes it tough to get our foot in the door.

It's not so much the miles as the change in life, living on the road for week(s) at a time takes a special person, missing family, friends, home etc can get very trying. Driving in different regions, mountains, snow,ice... well you get my drift!!!
Many people find they can't handle it and quit and the company is out the money for orientation, drug screen, physicals to name a few... much less if a driver quits under a load or decides to jump a plane or bus and just go home. Happens a lot more then people would think!!!
Good luck, Heyl is a good company (Zephyr hills) and there is a thread here for them.
