Thinking heavily on going with them. I turned in my app. They called me acouple of times. And even gave me time to talk it over with the family. The only thing that concerns me is being turned away because I had to hop a few jobs during trying to finish a 2 year college degree at the time. They weren't part time jobs. I had a few on there where I was only there for a couple of months, either because the place closed down..or I had to find something else due to shift conflicts. They all weren't like that, as I had 4 where I was there for at least 2 years. But the moral of the story is, I've had a lot of jobs. On the flipside, I've never done drugs..never stabbed anyone..never rode in a police cruiser involuntarily lol. I'm currently working now at Lowe's part time..and there to stay unless I get on with Roehl.
I haven't drove since the military, which has been 11 years ago. So I don't have a CDL.
Did anyone that went through orientation see people get bounced because of this?
Thank ye, kindly.
how are they on non-driving related spotty work history?

Orientation or school? I understand that they don't let you into school unless they plan on hiring you.
-
Most any OTR companies including Roehl, dont care about how many jobs, but they do look pretty hard on Consistency. meaning no long periods of absence of a job without proof of some sort ie. unemployment (they want proof) i think for the last 3 yrs is what it is. I'm assuming if something like your wife worked while you took care of home and kids they would want some proof of your wife working during such timeline. but I'm not 100% on that.
-
The feds require three years work history and ten years driving experience. I had to produce business tax returns for the past three years for that purpose.
-
yeah the recruiter looked at my app and was ready to press on with start dates and everything else. and then she asked if I'd like to take some time to talk it over with the wife. In which I did. But I read on some other forum section about another company where they went through training..came back for orientation..and THEN got sent home for something similar...and naturally had to owe the entire amount for the training.
This is sort of a deal where..if I do this..failure or rejection can not be an option at this point lol. Because a heavy loan payback (without a check to deduct it from) is the LAST thing I need.
800 a month net income from Lowe's isn't cutting it anymore I'm afraid. -
Ive seen one in RDTC myself that they didnt higher, but dont worry about it. The individual wouldnt listen too well to the instructors. RDTC doesnt guarantee you a job but it will guarantee you a CDL to some extent.
-
I just finished RDTC a couple weeks ago, and my understanding is that while your not guaranteed a CDL, I know that they cut some guys loose before they were on the hook for the entire amount. I was actually surprised one of the guys in my class made it, he pulled it together just two days before road tests. I can tell you I was impressed by the school, and I am not easily impressed.
-
As long as you listen well in the school and don't screw up on the road test and get your CDL they will very likely offer you a job. If they aren't going to offer you a job, you will probably know it because you will have been kicked out of the school, or failed your test. Even so, there were people in the group before me in 2008 that failed the test for some reason or another and took it the next week and passed.

I went thru RDTC last year about this time. As it was explained to me they are unable to, "guarantee" employment due to legalities. It is hard not to hire on. Think you'd have to bust your hump harder to not get hired on. Plus with you being a vet they will work with you for certain. They just want information on your history. No holes without reason. No, "off the grid" time so to speak. Good luck with your app!

Only problems ive see with people not getting higherd on is because they dont listen or accept/follow policy's. Dont worry about it and play by the rules and ur golden.
