Stolen from TA truckstop in Amarillo, Tx sometime between 5/12/2011 1500, 5/13/2011 0400. 2006 Freightliner Coronado Mid-roof, Midnight Blue, very sharp and clean, says Charway Cargo Carriers LLC on the doors in large grey vinyl. Custom 6 inch stacks, has wind aluminum deflector mounted on top truck. Truck Number 001. 2003, black, Fontaine Step-deck, spread axle flatbed was attached.

Recieved a call from another truck driver in Oklahoma City at the TA saying our truck was there with a broken passenger side window and no trailer. Also said his truck was stolen and our's was parked beside his peterbilt that day.

Contacted OKC PD and didnt get much help. Called TA and talked to security guard on duty, stated truck wasnt there.

We believe truck maybe heading west, and hope it's not heading for Mexico.

    Thanks

    Please contact Charway Cargo Carriers

ok so this truck had the keys in the egn strt' i mean that is the only way the person could drive off with it' that or the person knew how to hot wire the truck and drive off with it. that is why when we go in to the truck stop i gan feel good leaving the truck running because we got back up' he is called rocky and very good watch dog and that he is a pit that will make you think about trying to get in the truck. but alla side i feel bad about this driver.

$120 grand for a truck, $1.29 for an ignition switch. Makes no sense to me.

Probably take about 10 seconds with a screwdriver. Trucks are probably the least secure vehicles on the road.

i have never tried with a screw driver--but to get the ignition out--1 nut --maybe 2 screws --or just pull the face plate off with it--and a pair of jumper wires--or else just a hand ful of keys --one of them is sure to work---its just 1940's technology

We had a guy leave his "guard dog" with a multi million dollar load a few years ago at a TA in TN. It's amazing how quickly they go from ferocious to docile with a little bit of food. Long story short, they found the pit bull in the lot, tractor abandoned down the road, and the trailer empty in south Florida.

Yup, if the truck had a broken side window I'd say the keys were left in the ignition, or atleast visible through the window. Many thefts are just crimes of opportunity - i.e. which unoccupied trucks have a key in the ignition/visible and it's as good as gone.

Trucks use some of the least secure lock cylinders - waffer tumbler cylinders. Even someone with no experience picking locks, should be able to pick most waffer door/ignition locks in seconds.

Also, Ebay, or people using Ebay rather, sold masterkey sets for tons of heavy trucks and heavy equipment. Ebay has "banned" the sale of "masterkeys" from it's online auction, but people just reword the description and omit the word "masterkey".

Leaving a truck unattended in Texas is a huge mistake to begin with. 98% chance that thing is headed for Mexico and those big smoke stacks will be charm bracelets!
