I've been pretty busy since I left on the 1st. While on my way to Cedar Falls I stopped Sioux Falls terminal and met my DM and Red, the safety guy. They wanted to put me in a motel for the night, but by the time the guy came to pick me up I just decided to stay in the truck. Next day Red took other 2 drivers and me out for lunch. I though I might be dropping my trailer there, but I ended up delivering it and was able to reset my hours while I was in Sioux Falls.

After Cedar Falls I picked up a loaded at a Tyson in Waterloo, IA that was going to Arcadia, FL. It was tight on time, so I ended up driving nights in order to make it ontime. After delivering that load I had a loaded trailer waiting for me already at the Zephyrhills terminal it was going to Seymour, IN and Mt Pleasant, IA and was also on a tight clock. After delivering the last stop I only had 10 hours left on my 70 for the next 2 days. I picked up a loaded trailer in Beardstown, IL and swapped with another Heyl driver for a load that I'm delivering right now in Paw Paw, MI. It's been pretty busy week, I have 45 mins on my 70, but I'll be getting some hours back tonight.

I can't believe it is already the middle of May. I been meaning to to this post for some time but have been procrastinating.

The reason I have not posted in two plus months is because I am no longer driving for Heyl. My final day with Heyl was the 1st of March. The opportunity to become a fuel hauler, work locally, and be home with my family on a nightly basis presented itself and I took adavantage of it.

Overall, I would rate my experience with Heyl as excellent. I was treated very well at each terminal I went to. Heyl is a family run operation and it shows in how they treat their people. I truly appreciated the little things that were done for me such as Red taking me to lunch. For Red it was probably nothing. To me it signified that he places value in the people that work there.

My DM Tom is a good guy. As long as I kept the wheels turning and making my deliveries on time he kept me moving.

If I ever go back over the road, without question, Heyl would my first choice.

Sorry to see a good driver leave a good company. I will have to say I am very impressed with HEYL overall. I have been here going on two months and am impressed with how they treat drivers. I needed to be home last week on a certain day and they got me there. My last company couldn't get you there the same week.

Barracuda, congratulations on getting a local job to be home! I know he started this post, but hopefully everyone else and myself can keep this forum going.
The first 14 days of the month were one of the worst ever!! I only had 3800 miles, uck. After sitting in Zephyrhills for 3 days, then basically losing a day with 2 stops in OKC. From there ran up to North Platte. Funny, haha. Got back to the truck stop at midnight, 8 in the morning I get a message asking what truck stop I was at. An hour later I get a knock on my door from another Heyl saying we are switching loads, huh, 10 minutes later I get the dispatch. Whenever I get empty in North Platte, you usually go to Lexington to do a drop and hook. Got empty at 5 in the morning, and they finally told me at 1630 I could head to Lexington. Sat in Lexington waiting for dispatch all day, finally at 1645 get my dispatch. Woo Hoo, going to Dakota City. Supposed to be ready by 2200 or so. UCK, finally got the call at 2 am it was ready and had to drive all night to get it there. But this week has been better so far. Picked up a trailer out of Akron that went up to Alberta. Interesting there, I delivered and picked up my next load going to California without moving docks. Today I went all the way down I 15 in Montana and across I 86 in Idaho for the first time in my 7 years of driving. Everyone be safe out there.

I can't gripe to bad about miles, last week I got home on Tuesday night and went back out Sunday.I loaded in auburndale,Fl at 8am Sunday going to north east MD for Tuesday in which unloading killed the whole day and then reloaded in laurel MD going to Orlando Fl for 2am Friday. Not to bad and I had 4 days off.I like all the Fl freight,I got to have dinner with the Mrs.tonight.

I got unloaded in Orlando and reloaded in lake Wales going to Oklahoma city to deliver Monday night. This load will give me 3499 miles for this pay check. I got the message this week that I can start to trans-flo paperwork so I will get paid for this load this week.

I had been immune up until about 2 weeks ago to the crappy miles, but it seems I have caught the full force now. My dispatcher was out for a week and 1/2, so I got to be the low guy on the list. Next time he takes off work, I might at well go home. Last weeks paycheck $360, this week, looking about the same. I rushed south with my current load so I could drop it in FL because it doesn't deliver for 2 more days. Now the starter finally went out on the truck (i have told the main shop about this problem once, and Zephyrhills about this 3+ times) Thanks to Heyl's no weekend crew after 11am, I can't even talk to someone until tomorrow at about 6:30. I'll probably end up delivering this VERY badly planned load (seems to be a trend lately) on thursday, 6 days after picking it up and going 1700 miles.

IF they are still hiring right now, they shouldn't be. a couple months ago was great, now...not so much.

I hate to hear that,I sure hope it doesn't catch up with me. I made it to Oklahoma city and my truck lost all power. I could barely get off of the interstate and I was a mile from a TA. So I called in and they wanted me to try to limp it to the TA in which I did. So here I sit with a truck they can't fix,it needs to go to cummins. We will see what the morning brings.
